by RON JOHNSON Wyebridge Warriors are one of the Simcoe Rural Fastball League's up and coming teams. Manager Brien Dutton has brought a very young and inex- perienced squad a long way in a Short time. Team strengths are centred around last year's league MVP Morris Reynolds. Besides holding one of the more _ prolific homerun bats in the league, Reynolds is also a key to the Warriors' up-the-middle defence. Teamed with Carl Cowan at Shortstop, Bob Downer at catcher, and newcomer Dave Scandlon in centrefield, Reynolds gives the team one of the _ better defences in the league. Downer is about to become one of the top receivers in the league. One of the strengths of the team is what you t # aa ma? Bob Downer fine catcher call your "'intangibles". Team unity and cohesion are the cor- nerstones of the fran- chise. The outfield could also be one of the better ones around if Bob Dutton plays out there. With Scandlon and any one of Kerry Lloyd, Bill Dutton, Bev Adams, Ron Maynard, or Murray Derks, the outfielders will have no trouble covering the pastures. Dutton can also supply the long ball to the offense. When Dutton (Bob) is not in the outfield, he'll share first base with Kent Goldsmith. Reynolds and Cowan will man their positions likely every game, and Brian Roy will get most of the starts at third. If you've noticed that we've neglected the pitching staff, it's because Brien Dutton would rather forget it too. Not that Paul Rowe isn't a capable starter, but he's the only; thrower around. Rowe can beat most of the| second division clubs, and few of the top teams. This is the team's sore spot, along with one other glaring weakness.
