For the next two weekends, starting tomorrow at Penetang Curling Club, the annual Peasoup Men's Bon- spiel. Rinks from Toronto, Orillia, Barrie, Midland, and Penetang will be among those competing for the top prizes. Action begins tomorrow with draws at 9 saan. and 1 'a.m: Spectators are welcome. Monday's games, starting at 8 a.m. will be devoted to Bantam division games, while Tuesday will be Peewees, Wednesday will be Atom, Thursday, Novice, and Friday, Tyke and Peewee. Saturday will be taken up with Consolation and Championship title games. Midland Chamber of Commerce wants to boost Midland this summer by sponsoring a Midland Day at a Toronto Blue Jay Game. The Chamber is asking all service clubs and interested citizens to participate. A Midland Day at the ball park entails the purchase of 500 tickets. Special discounts will be offered for children and senior citizens. Time will be alloted on field for program events including participation in the 1st pitch ceremony. All in all, it looks like a fun day and a great opportunity to boost Midland. Sail Away, a seminar co-sponsored by Georgian College and the Ontario Sailing Association (Georgian Bay- Lake Simcoe zone) will be held April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the College's Barrie Campus. The seminar is open to all sailors in the Georgian Bay-Lake Simcoe area, whether they sail dinghies or large cruising yachts. Sail Away is divided into morning Sail away seminar set for Program open to all sailors in Georgian Bay- and afternoon sessions and features a luncheon address by Doug Keary. Keary is president of the Ontario Sailing Association and manager of team training for our America's Cup Team. He will outline selection for and training of the crew for Canada One. Participants in the seminar will choose one of two morning sessions and one of three afternoon workshops. Session A in the morning, features Navigation with Jim Russell of- Westbrook Sailing Schools, Lake Simcoe: Collingwood. Part 1 deals with Basic Coastal Navigation and Part 2 gives sailors "A Bag of Navigational Tricks"'. Session B is reared to racing en- thusiasts. In Part 1, participants will be given a description of the MORC and PHRF handicapping systems. Part 2, led by Olympic Helmsman Roger Green, deals with starting manoeuvres and tactics from the skipper's point of view. Afternoon' sessions include: Cruising Georgian Bay with Jim Kilgour, photographs and tales of adventure in Georgian Bay; So You Want to Buy a Boat, a look at yacht design features with Jack Pady and Bill Goman of Express Yachts and Protest Committees with with Carol Pearey.
