Atoms show skill Penetanguishene Summer's Trophy Atoms kept a_ busy schedule last weekend. Although they lost two of the three games they played, coach Gary St. Croix and manager Gary Ronald are pleased with the team's progress to this point in the season. Last Thursday in Elmvale, Penetangu- ishene nipped the home team 6-4, as Mark Piotrowski picked up three points and Greg Playne and Paul Watson had two each.Chipping in one scoring point each were Mike Argue, Derek Lotton, Roy Munday, and Jacob Irving In the return match held Sunday Jan. 9 in Penetanguishene, Elmvale reversed the decision by scoring a 5-4 win. Chris Marchildon, Chris Vallee, Playne, Lotton, Munday, and Watson all scored one point for the losers. Both of these exhibition games were highlighted by fast, entertaining hockey. In between these two games, Penetanguis- hene Summer's Trophy atoms managed to squeeze in a_ league game with the powerful Collingwood squad. In three previous outings against Collingwood, the local boys and never been closer than eight goals. When this one ended with Collingwood posting a 5-1 win, it was termed a moral victory for Penetanguishene. Roy Munday and Jeremy Legault notched the scoring points in the game for the losers. Midland was inspired by the news that they will be going to the Silver Stick tournament in Sarnia, after apparently not qualifying at the regional tourney recently in Midland. Coach Andy Traynor passes on the news that because the champion and consolation champs from another Ontario district are unable to go to Sarnia, as Consolation champions of the Midland regional tourney, Midland was extended an invitation to compete. They play Port Hope on Jan. 21 to open the tournament.
