Many people nave been inquiring about registration for the up-coming session that starts in January. In this article.I will outline the programmes offered, as well as, registration information. CLUB GOALS We are striving to provide a_ strong developmental and competitive gymnastic programme for the young people of Huronia. We want to give each youngster the op- portunity to pursue excellence in accordance with their interest and ability. We also want to promote fun, fitness and fundamental gymnastics for both boys and girls. F In order to meet the goals outlined above the Hurons have developed both a recreational as well as a competitive stream for our gymnasts. I would like to focus my attention on the recreational programme offered by our club. In this area we have three levels: the Kin- dergym, the Advanced. The Kindergym programme is designed to enhance such fundamentals as co-ordination, body awareness, balance and agility through the use of conventional and educational gymnastic methods. These skills are per- formed through exploration on the equipment made available by our club and the host school. ( This co-ed class is for those children aged 4 to 6. They work out of Parkview Public School on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This 10 week session which starts on Monday, January 10th costs $25. There is a limit of 15 gymnasts for this class. The developmental programme is designed for children who have had 1-2 years of Kin- dergym or related experience. It is designed to teach flexibility, strength, co-ordination, balance and agility. Progressive gymnastic skills will be introduced through the use of Developmental and the bars, beam, floor, vault and various small equipment. This co-ed class is for children ages 6-8. Practice is on Wednesday between 5:30-7:30 p.m. The first night for the next 10 week session is January 12th at Parkview P.S. Cost for this programme is $25 for 10 weeks. The Advance programme is structured to meet the needs of two types of gymnasts. First, the gymnasts who have a desire to eventually become competitive gymnasts. Second, the gymnast who's skill level is above that of the gymnast in the developmental section and would like a more intensive programme, operating with more hours. These gymnasts practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both practices are conducted at Parkview P.S. in Midland. This co-ed class is for children aged 7 and up. This group will start practice on Tuesday, January 11th. The cost for this 10 week From here and there programme is $50. CONCLUSION Our past successes would indicate that we are meeting the needs of the local youth. Most of the programmes have limits in terms of the number of gymnasts that we can ac- commodate. As a result, be sure to register early. This can be done by calling Mrs. Marg Milligan at 526-4908. GYMNASTIC CALENDAR Tues., Dee. 28--Tyros and Juniors are off to practice in Orillia. Thurs.
