The Historic Naval and Military Establish- ments and Sainte-Marie among the Hurons have organized "Job Information Day" for Thursday, Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Establishments The session is available to post secondary school students interested in working next summer at one of the historic attractions as site interpreters. Frank Milligan and Sharon Armstrong, interpretive and education. of- ficers for the Establishments and Sainte- Marie respectively, will handle the two-hour workshop which is the first of its kind offered by Huronia Historical Parks. One hundred and seventy graduates from high schools in Midland, Penetanguishene and Elmvale, presently enrolled in the first year of college or university, should have received personal invitations by mail. All eligible students are welcome to attend. The objectives for the information session are two-fold, according to Frank Mill'gan. "'We are making an extra effort wit this workshop to give local students every op- portunity to land a summer job at the historic sites. Secondly, the session will also em- phasize the job skills students can acquire by working as historic interpreters." Pr Those skills include abilities to organize information, think on your feet, speak in front of a group and work in a team situation. The workshop consists of a slide show on programs and jobs at Sainte-Marie and the Establishments followed by a question-and- answer period detailing hiring procedures. The period of employment next summer is May 9 to Labour Day and first year in- terpreters will earn in the $5-an-hour range. Students planning to attend the workshop should report to the Visitor Centre at the Historic Naval and Military Establishments no later than 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30. The Establishments are located at the end of Church Street in Penetanguishene. 9 Christmas Is alive The spirit of The Native interpretive staff at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons has designed an attractive nativity scene built from such natural materials as birch bark, evergreen branches and wooden sticks.
