Also, board chairman Dave Carpenter noted that the board would need the advice of the town solicitor before it could commit itself to an agreement' with Szeliga. Hacker said _ that Szeliga would not pay $50,000 for the right to sign a long term lease, but that Szeliga might favour paying $50,000, the first five year's lease money, at one, if the money were applied against future rents. He will be sending the board a written proposal from _ the developer to the board. The assessed value of the parkland for which Szeliga is currently negotiating, with the town is $40,000. by Mrs. M. Gervais The Georgian Club Senior Citizens held its Christmas dinner in the Recreation Room of the Legion at noon, on Dec. 9. A delicious meal was enjoyed by 60 members. Turkeys were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davage and hams donated by Mr. Jos. Cormier. Pot luck casseroles, salads and desserts were donated by members. Four plates were delivered to shut-in members who are living alone. A Christmas gift exchange was held, and euchre later was played. A Christmas cake donated by Mrs. Evelyn Gillan was won by Mrs. Bertha Claie and the winner of the 50-50 draw as Mrs. Marie Ander- son. The next meeting of the Senior Citizens will be held in the Legion Hall on Jan. 6. Christmas dinner enjoyed The regular meeting of St. John's United Church Women was held in the church, Tuesday evening, Dec. 7 with 26 present. The devotional period was in charge of the Christian Development Groupette headed by Mrs. J.W. Lidstone with the theme The Meaning of Advent. Those taking part were Mrs. Lidstone, Mrs. Grace Webb, Miss Gail Donovan and Mrs. Marjorie Gervais. The president, Mrs. Vera Keetch, conducted the business. Reports were given and arrangements for Christmas cards to be sent and boxes to shut-in members were made. 52 house calls and 34 hospital calls were made by members since the last meeting. It was announced a Presbyterial will be held in Barrie on Jan. 10. Robt. Springthorpe of meeting Toronto spent a few days with his grand- mother Mrs. J.E. Springthorpe last week. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Adamson of Mississauga visited with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Campbell, formerly of Midland, at Bala. They also spent the week with Mrs. Marion Adamson and with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Adamson of Victoria Harbour.
