Elmvale Sunshine Club by WILHEMENE CAMERON Hi folks. About 90 people showed up for our usual Monday meeting in the Community Hall. We say, "Welcome"' to three new members-- Dorothy Hobson, Dorothy Anderson and Irwin Anderson. This brings our membership to 128. 3irthdays for December are, Hazel Campbell, Erne Deviney, Zaida Drinkill, Cecil French, John Dunn, Bertille Marley, Edith Sheardown, and Dora Todd. There is a trip pending to take a bus to Midland to view the Christmas lights at night. A large "Thank you"' to the ladies who packed 22 baskets for shut-ins and to the gents who set up the tables for our dinner. Our club members could do a great act of kind- ness if they would take an hour, out of the busy schedule to visit the people in the Sarah Vista as some have no one to visit them. They might be lonely and routine can be boring. It is the unex- pected that is so nice. Scores for Euchre--Ladies Isobel Doan. Gents Guy Culver. Bridge Table 1--Ena Adams and Frank Rumney. Quote--In order to have a friend you have to be one Workshop by HARRY BROWN On Dec. 3, 4, 5, South Georgian Bay District held a Scout Patrol Leaders Workshop at Camp Wildman in Tiny Township. The Workshop was organized to provide the Patrol Leaders and their Assistants with experience to help them with their respon- sibilities in their Patrols. Twenty-three Scouts attended representing six District Troops. The weather was remarkable for this time of year. Scouts camped outdoors in Norwegian shelters. The weekend went very smoothly with good participation in Patrol activities, games and learning sessions. Some of the sessions were on, leadership, methods, badge system, preparing for camp and court of honour responsibilities. Scouts also planned their own games. Scout's Own and Campfire. Nine Scouters from the District took part in the weekend as counsellors and trainers. All indications, from both Scouts and leaders, are that the effort was very worthwhile. The Scouts learned a lot and had great fun doing so. For your badges and supplies, our District Convenors Bob and Reta Hoadley, have made it easier for you. Beginning with the opening of their new store on Dec. 16, you may order or pick up badges during the day. The place- The Jungle eee Hardware Personal Shopping Only! Arts, Crafts key session The regular monthly council meeting of Simcoe County Arts and Crafts Associatoon met on Dec. 6 in the Bayshore Motor Hotel in Barrie with 20 members in attendance. President Hilda Sibthorpe chaired the meeting. A letter of interest to all was received from former SCACA Secretary, Nancy Trott, who is living at present in San Diego, California. A committee, under the chairmanship of Lois Day, was formed to make plans for the 1983 Annual Meeting. A tentative date of May 28 was set. Council members were also asked to submit names for life membership in SCACA. Past-president Eunice McLeod presented Draft No. 1 of the "Policies and Procedures" manual which is being designed to com- plement the Simcoe County Arts and Crafts Association Constitution as an operations document. Council members were asked to study the draft and be prepared to discuss it in depth at their January meeting. SCACA now has over 300 members. After luncheon, the members of the Fair Board met to make plans for the 1983 Quilt and Rug Fair. This will take place late in September. SCACA Council would like to take this opportunity to extend very best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season to all members and friends.
