They're all part of the Santa Claus Letter Program, a big drive by the post office to help all the children across Canada receive a response to their letters. It's estimated some 12,000 volunteers will take part nationally. The program was announced recently by R. Michael Warren, president of Canada Post Corporation. He said a short while ago, a radio commentator broadcast an "open letter' to him urging Canada Post to do something special that would enhance the spirit of Christmas. Mr. Warren said: "This generated thousands of letters from people right across the country. Also included was one from a certain gentleman at the North Pole, which we at Canada Post feel meets the request and at the same time gives Santa the needed helping hand that he asked for. "So, I'm happy to announce that a growing number of Canada Post employees and pensioners, along with members of.senior citizens groups and service clubs across Canada have volunteered to act as Santa's helpers in his efforts to answer the letters mailed to his workshop at the North Pole." Children should write to Santa at his North Pole address: Santa Claus North Pole Canada HOH 0HO All youngsters are reminded to be sure to mail their letters early and write their return address on the outside of the envelope, including their own postal code. It is important to use the North Pole postal code. 'HOH OHO" on Santa's address. "This is the time of year when all youngsters begin to be touched by the magic of Christmas" said Warren. "The response of our employees and senior citizens and service club members to the Santa Claus Letter Program has been tremendous...we are all pleased to be Santa's'helpeis. Hopefully this will help' make Christmas a little bit brighter for everyone this year." Elmvale & District Lions Club Christma Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Elmvale Communi Happy Hour 8 to9p.
