Key to success by RON JOIENSON Midland Centennials found the key to success in their Georgian Bay Junior C game last Friday at Cen- tennial Arena against Essa 80's. The Cents spotted the visitors a 3-0 first period lead and then got stellar net- minding from Chris Lemieux to defeat the 80's by a 5-3 count. Cents scored three times in the second period and twice in the third, while Lemieux was handling 35 shots in the Midland nets throughout the game. That total includes 17 in the third period. Kenny Mugford scored twice for the home team, while Shawn Davy, Joe Beleskey and Brian Cadeau all scored once. Mugford also set up Dadeau's goal in the third, which proved to be the winner. Essa's three first came from the sticks of period scores Sean Garrigan, Darry Vincent and Tim Mcintyre. A solid defensive performance by the club in the middle frame started the ball rolling for the Cents. Excellent checking at both ends of the rink by the forwards and good defensive work by the blueline corps held 80's to just four shots on LLemieux's net. Midland directed 28 shots at Essa's goal in the game. Cents had the edge in the penalty department, drawing 14 minors to the visitors' 12. C-NOTES....All three second period goals came with a man ad- vantage....Essa had one powerplay goal and one goal while playing a man short....
