They received stellar netminding frdm Blaine Dusome during the tight contest. Last weekend, Jaycees travelled to Collingwood for a Georgian Bay Minor Hockey Association game, and came home victorious due to the scoring heroics of Guy Jeannotte. At the end of one period Midland led '3-1, on two goals by Archie Meridis and one by Eddie Richardson. However Collingwood charged back with four unanswered scores in the middle frame. This is when Jeannotte took matters into his own hands. Guy counted a hat trick in the final period to give his team a thrilling 6-5 win. Jeannotte also set up-all three first period goals to give him a six-point game. Meridis assisted on Jeannotte's three in the last stanza. ESPSS was the first victim of Brigg Har- vey's team, going down to defeat by a lop-sided 89-25 margin. MSS was led once again by the shooting of Tracey Vent. The All-Ontario forward poured in 20 points in just over one-half of play. Renaty Friedrich and Mary Russell aided the cause with 15 and 14 points respectively. In the finals, Brock High School of Can- nington really felt the power of the Lady Marauders. According to Coach Harvey, "'the girls were truly awesome against Brock and seem to be peaking at just the right time for the provincial playdowns."' These are kind words indeed from a coach who is definitely trying to keep a tight rein on the emotions of his charges. The biggest job off the court for Brigg Harvey is to keep the team inspired until the really "big" ones. Harvey seems to have things well under control. He is getting more support from his bench each outing and his Sstars' (are ~ .cons tributing as they should. Against Brock, Miss Vent had 16 more points, while Carolyn Meech dropped in 13. Georgian Bay finals are this Saturday in Huntsville. While the team is lacking adequate practice time due to exams, Harvey still expects the team to do well this weekend. It would be a major upset if someone knocks off MSS at this stage, and the 9 pinls: arer iex- perienced enough to know how to handle the pressures of being one of the top teams in the province. It can't hurt to wish Tracey, Angie and the rest of the team good luck though. MSS other teams didn't fare as well at the daylong tourney. The midgets, after beating ESPSS in the opener, lost to Brock in the finals. The Junior girls also lost in the finals to the host school, after beating Elmvale in the preliminaries.
