Friends were sorry to learn Mrs. Austin Moran had the misfortune to break a hip in a fall at her Toronto home a week ago. She is a patient at St. Michael's Hospital. Some few days before her accident she was rushed from her home in the city by ambulance suffering from severe pain in her back. She and her husband had just returned home from their House on the Hill when she was af- flicted. All hope she is suffering less and that her convalescence will not be long. Dr. and Mrs. Wm. Butt drove up from the city to attend to their property on the corner amd exercise their franchise. They were confined to their home in the city for a few days by MRS. R. LEA Several people from here have attended the Royal Winter Fair last week. Lorne Tinney is home and feeling better after spending a few days in Penetanguishene General Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rumble enjoyed a trip to Calgary and Blind Bay, B.C. Larry Drennan, Ottawa, spent a few days last week with his parents. Last Monday was a very quiet election day, not many people from here went out to vote and not many people knew who was on the voting list. The annual Santa Claus parade will be held on Dee. 11. The fowl supper held at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday night was a= great success. Last Tuesday the Hillsdale W.I. were guests of the Silver Maple branch for a pot- luck dinner and meeting in the Agriculture building in Elmvale. Elmvale has two ex- change teachers here from Australia. The ladies of the Legion served hot-dogs, cookies etc. to the boys and their leaders, following the latter, in appreciation of their participation in the service. It was much appreciated. The return to earth of the gigantic balloon on Monday late afternoon created much ex- citement in the neigh- bourhood. Understa- ndably it was a bitter disappointment to Mr. Maxie Anderson and Mr. Don Ida but at least they are safe and sound and that is the main thing. Oh Boy! Sorry to learn Mr. Sidney Clarke is in the intensive care unit at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia. He was taken ill Monday night, Nov. 8. Hurry and get well. prints.
