a es ore | David Walker wants 10 be re-elected Tay's reeve by David Walker I would like to thank The Midland Times for this opportunity to address the voters of the Township of Tay where I am_ seeking to be returned as Reeve. I will give you one example of what I mean when I say "Make every dollar do 100 cents work". Almost half the homes in Tay are served by communal water systems. Sunnyside, Portage Park, Midland Bay Woods, and the new system in Waubaushene are the responsibility of Tay Township. Bayberry, Gilwood Bay and Glenbrook Gardens are soon expected to be operated by the Township. In 1979 a_ study commissioned by Tay Council to report on the feasibility of setting up a full time water dept. This study showed that with some long term capital financing and the involvement of all the water areas, it would be feasible to equip and man a proper Bruce Tinney wants to serve as Tay's new reeve Elect Bruce Tinney Reeve for Tay Township Nov. 8, 1982. I have been a resident of Tay Township for 26 years. My wife and I have raised four children two of which work with me in our family business. The business was established 26 years ago. ; l vam a. charter member of the Midland Civitan Club, which was chartered in 1967. I enjoy helping people when and where I can. I feel my years ex- perience on council as well as operating a successful business Water Dept. to give assured service to our communal water systems. But since Tay Council has entered into an agreement with the Waubaushene PUC to administer, operate, and maintain the new system there, (I should add that "as long as our Waubaushene __ Ratep- ayers are _ properly served by this agreement it will continue'), and _ since we regularly meet with our counterparts in Tiny Township to discuss gives me the knowledge and ability to serve you as your Reeve. My main concern is to keep our expenditures to a manageable level. Thank you. Keith Rossel: willing to serve another term Keith Rossel has completed a_ two-year term on Elmvale Council and is willing to serve for another term. The 39-year-old teacher is Head of the History Department at Roxy has big plans in the works Dave Babcock, owner-operator of the Roxy Theatre in Midland says he plans to open a Screen 2 '"'when economics will allow use. Babcock pointed with pride this week to a new sign gracing the Roxy which calls attention to the fact. Elmvale District High School, where he has taught for seventeen years. He believes that now that the term of office is for three years, the need for direct com- munication with the residents of the Village is even more important. He fully intends to maintain his brochure, "Report from Village Council", which he has distributed twice in the last two years. . As for the next three years, he said that the Village should always be open to new proposals for business and industry. "Services in the municipality should continue to expand," he said. This could be done by annually re- organizing financial priorities. These ser- vices could then be introduced and_ the Village would continue to have a financial surplus with no increase in the local mill rate. "This last point is essential,' he said, "'in these hard economic times of cutbacks, in- flation, and unem- ployment."' Tay council has entered into an agreement with Tiny to share the services and costs of Tiny's already established, well equipped and manned Water Dept. This agreement provides assured ser- vice of this vital com- modity to our ratepayers on com- munal water systems. It allows Tiny to further improve service to their ratepayers. This agreement puts your water dollars to ef- ficient use by sharing a water dept. with our neighbours instead of duplicating it.
