Bees Keefe has served on council before by Nancy Keefe To the voters of Ward I in Midland: You have been hearing and will be hearing, for the next week or so, the words "'experience", "eco- Nomy:)' ae waxcese2: "jobs", and "'industrial promotion" repeated by practically all can- didates for Midland Council. I too subscribe to each and every one of these as my prime concerns, as well as several others mentioned on my flyer which is being delivered to all households and apartments in Ward 1. Many people have asked me, "'Nancy, why would you want to run for Alderman for Ward 1 in view of the serious situation currently facing us as Midlan- ders'. The answer is that I really feel that with my past ex- perience, I can make a substantial contribution while working for, and with, the taxpayers of this community over the next three years. For the last four years I have been heavily involved in volunteer organizations and now, being relieved of these public duties, I have the time, as well as the energy and the ex- perience that I feel would allow me to serve the local public to a fuller extent. As a Midland resident taxpayer for 26 years I am concerned that our local budget is nearly $500 per person, ex- clusive of education costs. It is high time that we all make it our personal interest to see that our town is run "'as a business"--your _ in- vestment needs protection. Some of my goals for the next three years would be-- Identify our problems; set priorities; establish policies and assure that our municipal staff are able and willing to implement the policies established by council. To hold expenditures well below the rate of Bob Cascagnette running for deputy-reeve ; BOB CASCAGNETTE I was born and raised in Penetanguishene and received most of my early education here: I am married with four children. I moved away in 1956 and returned in 1967 to establish my own _ in- surance agency. I have been involved in many local charity fund raising activities. I am chairperson of the Adult Service Com- mittee for the Ontario Association for the Mentally Retarded. I sit on the advisory Driver education popular program in area schools The fall driver education programs at _ the area high. schools are filled to capacity. The programs are offered as a continuing education course to high school students. The students receive 25 hours of classroom instruction and_= six hours of in-car in- struction. The tasks of the driver education program is to provide the students with the knowledge, skills, and, most im- portantly, the proper attitudes for the safe use of our streets and high- ways. At Ecole Secondaire Penetanguishene Secondary School, Mr. Maushart has 24 students enrolled. Mr. ° Letts has 30 students at Midland Secondary School. Mr. Gray has 24 students at Elmvale Secondary School. At LeCaron, Mr. Bruneau has 12 students par- ticipating. The area car dealers are also active in the driver education program. Bourgeois Motors Ltd. of Midland, is providing a 1983 Mercury Zephyr. Lockhart Motors of Victoria Harbour, is supplying a 1983 Chevrolet Citation and Alex Currie Motors of Elmvale is providing a 1983 Pontiac-6000. ze The vehicles are rented from the dealers on a short-term basis so as not to accumulate too many kilometers. Their participation' is essential to the fune- tioning of the driver education program. should be They commended for their involvement. Mr. Pascoe of Elm- vale, instructor of the in-ear sessions with assistance from Mr. Maushort, Mr. Battrick, and Mr. Gray. The next driver education course starts in January. OV.8-VOTE board for the Ontario Citizen of the Year Award and have been a town councilman for the past two years. If I'm successful in this coming election, I would seek to form a Joint Industrial Com- mission with our whole area--Midland, Pen- etanguishene, Port MecNicoll, Victoria Harbour, Tiny and Tay Twps. I feel that job creation is our Number 1 priority. We have had to watch too many of our friends and neighbours leave our area to seek em- ployment elsewhere. What I propose is to work with the elected officials in the areas I have mentioned, to work towards our common goal of at- oe cBride Alderman Ward 2 inflation by doing only those things our tax- payers can really af- ford. No raises for council members for 3 years. No annexation of surrounding lands unless a cost _ benefit factor can be sub- stantiated. Industrial promotion should be vigorously pursued to provide jobs for our local citizens. Some of my past experiences have in- cluded: 1) Alderman Ward 1 and Chairman Public Safety 1977-78 Planning Board, Parks Committee 2) Chairman, Midland Centennial Committee 3) Campaign Chairman Salvation Army Red __ Shield Appeal 1981-82. 4) President Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario 1977-78 I am currently on the Board of Directors of tracting industry. 1 feel sure that with all the advantages we have to offer, Industrial Courts, Recreation Facilities, clean air and clean water, that with an ae Sake SiS; lev © promotional drive, we should be able to present an attractive package to prospective industries. If you agree with me. vote for me as your deputy-reeve. the Victorian Order of Nurses of Ontario. You may be in- terested also, to know that I have been happily married to my one and only husband, Neville Keefe for over 36 years, have a married son living in Toronto and have lived in Ward 1 for over 26 years. In conclusion, may I give you the quote of the week--"elect the People Person- elect Nancy Keefe, Alderman.Ward ae Richard Platt Mayor Experience 'In Midland, your support for Nancy Keefe Alderman Ward 7 would be appreciated For Midland P.U.C.
