The theme for the four floats entered by Elmvale District High School students was Movies. Making a Will? The importance of "Making a Will"' will be the topic of a free library program at the Penetanguishene Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 26 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker is Paul DeVillers. The program is sponsored by the Penetanguishene Public Library with the assistance of the Georgian Bay Regional Library System, the Outreach Ontario program of the Ministry of Citizenship and Culture and Community Legal Education Ontario. Plan to attend this free library program. New policeman joins force this month Const. Donald Penrose, a veteran with Metro Toronto Police Department for the past 12 years will be joining Penetanguishene Police Department, Oct. 25 as a third class constable. For the past four and a half years he has been working with Toronto police's youth bureau. New pact signed Midland Industries, Division of Waltec Inc., and Local 1476 of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union announced yesterday the signing and ratification of a new two year Collective Agreement. This agreement is effective Sept. 20, 1982 and terminates Sept. 19, 1984. The basic wage will increase by five per- cent on all rates effective Sept. 20, 1982, and 25 cents an hour effective Sept. 20, 1983. The existing Cost of Living Allowance will continue, up to a maximum of 40 cents in each year. A number of benefit items were altered including one more paid holiday, com- mencing in 1983. Accident on Orr Lake Road Angela Skinner of Orr Lake was slightly injured yesterday just after midnight when the car that she was driving left the Orr Lake Road, west of Highway 93, Elmvale OPP report. The Federal Business Development Bank will hold two workshops, on cash management, and on what to expect from a chartered accountant. The chamber will be honouring Small Business Week in Canada. All businessmen and members of the general public are welcome to attend, and can register through the chamber office. Will we set another record this year? Believe it or not snow appeared for the first time last winter on Oct. 18 when two inches of hail and snow covered Midland- Penetanguishene. By the time the last snow fell on North Simcoe on April 19, 1982, a total of 378.06 centimeters or 148.84 inches of snow had fallen on the town during the winter of 1981-82.
