The vast majority of those who gave "the gift of life" appeared to be blue collar workers. ONE OF ONTARIO'S oldest, continuous, annual fall fairs, the Midland and District Fall Fair, wrapped up late Sunday afternoon. The Town of Midland is unable to adequately service property in Midland at present. The property taxes of The Shamrock Motel in Midland are double the taxes of my Motel, The Panorama, in Tiny Township. The Shamrock Motel is not on the town of Midland sewage system and does not even have a garbage pickup. The residents and businessmen in Tiny Town- ship will never submit to having their property and business taxes doubled without adequate services being instituted. Member of Audit Bureau of Circulations Page 4, Wednesday, September 22, 1982 The Simeoe County Federation of Agriculture is making plans to celebrate 'Agri-Food Week"' in the County. Agri-Food Week will be Oct. 4 to Oct. 11, 1982. : The event is planned to draw attention to Agriculture and its importance to Canadians and the Canadian economy. The plan is to approach all sectors of the Agri-Food industry to encourage them to participate in this special week. In Simcoe County, the Warden, and the Mayors of Barrie and Orillia will be asked to proclaim the week of Oct. 4th to Oct. 11 as "Agri-Food Week". We are hoping that Retailers, Processors, Farm Equipment dealers, etc. and farmers themselves will join in the celebration. A Farm bus tour has been organized for Thursday, Sept. 30. The tour will visit several farms in the County. These farms will represent various food Commodities produced here. The bus will be leaving the parking lot at the Continental Inn at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, and will return there at approximately 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided at the noon stop. There will be information provided on Agriculture in the County as the tour progresses. Your host on the Tour will be Garth Cubitt, President of the Simcoe County Federation. You vocates, it is my understanding that it would cost the taxpayers of Midland at least two million dollars to install proper services. This does not sound like financial restraint. Back in January 1981 when Mr. Paul DesRoches located at Highway 93 and the Balm Beach Road Mr.. Platt was very strong in his criticism of the project. The 52 acre Medieval Theme Park would have brought literally thousands of additional tourists to this area in every month of the year The building of a 3'» mile cross country ski trail which would wind through this park in the Winter months is something that is desperately needed in this area. Mr. Paul DesRoches should be receiving the backing from every person in this area and not the slightest criticism from anyone. We need tourists all the year round. Yours truly," Denis Bonyun You are invited... are cordially invited to join us on the bus tour. There is no charge. If you plan to take the tour with us, please contact me at either 728-2330 or 436-1457 as soon as possible. Space on the bus is limited.
