The Malibus, the club's entry in the Simcoe County Ladies' Recreational Volleyball League, will get started with tryout practices Monday and Wednesday from 9:15 to 10:30 p.m. at the Midland YMCA. Carol Finlayson will coach the Malibus again this season. Tuesday, the club's Juvenile boys' team, the Senior mens' team and Junior and Midget girls' squads will get started. Greening Donald won the best-of-seven affair in four straight games to give them the HSPL crown for the second straight year. They started Wed- nesday's finale by taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Ed Hubbard led off with a single and Mike Jones followed with a double to put men on second and third base. Early next week -- after recovering from yesterday's cross country meet in Barrie, in which 50 St. T's runners participated -- they'll be out knocking on doors seeking pledges. SAS Doug Bannon scored two touch- downs and added a pair of converts to lead the defending champion Red- skins to a season-opening 28-0 stomping of the Brooklea Eagles in Penetang-Midland Touch Football League action last Sunday at Midland Secondary School. In other games at MSS, the Cum- ming-Nicholson Stompers blasted the Raiders 24-0 and the Crusaders edged the Broncos 8-6. In games at Ecole Secondaire Penetanguishene Secondary School, the Dial-A-Movie Strikers walloped the Renegades 33-0, Midnite Express got by the Unknowns 19-12 and the Guzzlers unplugged Hydro 7-1. Steve Brown and Jeff Attwood came up with one touchdown apiece and Dave Mink kicked two converts to back up Bannon's effort in helping the Redskins get off to a faultless start. Stompers point-getters were Steve Dunn with two touchdowns, Mike Diver with one, Jeff Dunn pulled in a pair of two-point converts and Mike Hamelin had one two-pointer. Paul Piitz did most of the damage for the Crusaders with a touchdown and M. Pauze added a pair of single points. Eric Desroches had the lone Broncos TD. Touchdown-getters for the Strikers were Dennis Oucharuk, Rick But- tineau, Tim Garrett and Paul York; Tim Powel had a two-pointer and Mike Leduc kicked a single. Paul Duval scored two touchdowns to lead the Express to their opening vicoory, Rick Presse added one TD and Mike Miller booted a single. Mike McCallum and Steve Bisson each had one touchdown for the Unknowns. Scoring for the Guzzlers (formerly SimcoeMatice Canteen) was handled by Chris Ball, who racked up one TD and a single point; Peter Maracle scored the lone Hydro point. This Sunday at MSS, the Redskins will take on the Broncos at noon, the Raiders will meet the Renegades at 1:15 p.m. and the Strikers will tangle with the Express at 2:30.
