This time famed St. James on-the-Lines Anglican Church will mark its 146th anniversary on Sunday, July 25. The occasion will be an impressive affair with soldiers from the historic Naval and Military Establishments attending as has been the custom for many years. They'll also present a military drill demonstration afterwards in front of the church. The anniversary service is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start. Former rector of the church Rev. Sidney J. Maddock will be the guest preacher for this most memorable event. It's one summer event you'll not want to miss for indeed it will be history in the making. Dangerous situation YET ANOTHER pilot has had to land his plane in the dark at Huronia Airport as a result of the tri-municipal facility developing runway lighting problems. The pilot was returning to North Simcoe late at night following a round-trip to Sherbrooke, Que. It's not the first time the airport runway lighting system hasn't been functional and it's not the first time a pilot has taken his life into his own hands and landed at the unlit facility. However it points up again the continued problems that have been plaguing the airport in recent years. Furthermore there doesn't seem to be an end to the confusion and petty politics that seem to highlight the-airport which is funded by Midland, Penetanguishene and Tiny Township. We repeat what we have often said here before, the three municipalities should get out of the airport business once and for all and sell the operation to a private concern. The airport isn't paying for itself, it never has and it never will and that's the facts... Staunch supporter wins our respect NICK BOUDOURIS, owner of the World Famous Dock Lunch restaurant in Penetanguishene and a major sponsor of area athletic teams and civic functions earlier this month acquired the Penetanguishene Kings Junior "C" Hockey Club. "Nick the Greek"' is a highly regarded businessman in North Simcoe but he is more than that . . . he is a staunch supporter of Penetanguishene and has proven it over and over again by rolling up his sleeves (an loosening his wallet) and getting down to brass tacks. " Nick, it seems, can be counted on at any hour of the day or night to help a worthy cause. If any person can be said to constitute a symbol of man's compassion for his fellow man and for his community and an impelling willingness to go to his help, that person is Nick Boudouris. So it seems appropriate that he takes over ownership of our town's exciting Jr. "'C" hockey club. Both will be winners this season and for many years to come as will those who support the team this winter both here at home and on the road. Penetanguishene is most fortunate that it has such a community-minded booster the likes of Nick Boudouris. Good luck Nick. Good luck Kings. Hammond Major Divisional Commander Chamber says, 'Thanks' Dear Editor: Would you be kind enough to publish these let- ters in your paper as soon as possible. Thank you. Joyce Sauve Secretary, Penetanguishene Chamber of Commerce Dear Diane: Words cannot express how extremely grateful we are for your untiring devotion and commitment to Penetanguishene- and its very successful Centennial. Without your great skills of organization and mangement, Penetanguishene could not have undertaken such an enormous task. Because of your insight and planning, every age level was able to enjoy some aspect of the many celebrations that were held. It was very heartwarming to see so many people thoroughly enjoy themselves in various activities. As Al Tucker wrote, '"'Penetanguishene, welcome back your sons and daughters"' and we feel that because of all your efforts the countless number of people who did return home for the different ac- A 'haunting' proposal Dear Editor: Halloween this year falls on a Sunday. As much of what Halloween represents is contrary to worship on the Lord's Day The Salvation Army is attempting to encourage all area municipalities to pass resolutions declaring that Halloween celebrations be held on Saturday Oct. 30. 5 Another contributing factor would be the extra hour of daylight for the children due to the fact we do not turn our clocks back till later that night. The purpose of this letter is to solicit your support and that of your readers (listeners) to this proposal. Sincerely yours, --R. Braddock, Lieutenant. Midland Salvation Army tivities were extremely glad they did.
