'Bopping on the beach The Midland Volleyball Club has provided an alternalive for beach bums tired of just lying around on a blanket. The club, in co-operation with the Town of Midland Parks and Recreation department, is offering free volleyball equipment and the free use of its beach volleyball court facilities ai Little Lake Park. As few as two or a whole group can sign oul ihe equipment from the Midland arena office and spike away a sunny afternoon in the hot sand. If you want to know a little bit more about ihe game before you start, you can attend one of the club's free adult recreational programs, held each Wednesday night from 7 to 9 at the Little Lake beach courts. And to get you right into the swing of things, the club will be hosting a mens' and womens' triples (three on a team) tournament this Saturday. It'll be the first of four tournaments the club will hold this summer, and you can take part by registering at 10 a.m. Saturday at the courts. Cost for the event is $15 a team and prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be available all day. The club is also considering a volleyball Ls camp for kids for the week of Aug. 23-27.
