eee SI Watch out for the mystery mascot -- a cute and cuddly little creature that will embody the spirit of Homecoming '82. There are rumours that the mystery mascot may make his first personal ap- pearance at the big dockside Rotary barbecue on Thursday. Rotarians have applied their special brand of enthusiasm to Homecoming, and are giving the October celebration a boost at the bar- becue and garage sale. It seems certain that Homecoming will start witha bang. The Midland Parks Board is considering a gala fireworks display in Little Lake Park on Friday Oct. 1...Ken Walker is chairman of the ways and means committee and he and Herb Henderson, Harry Cox, Arni DiCarli and Wally Cun- ningham have some exciting promotional ideas up their collective sleeve. The word is out that John Arpin, pianist and composer, will be here for Homecoming weekend and will play at least one concert at Midland Homecoming " Hotline the Budd Watson Gallery. He's played there before of course--once at a concert a couple of § years ago. : 9 In the days when the gallery was the local YMCA, Arpin was a perennial star in the annual Y's Men's music' festival... Homecoming organizers are still looking for help in a number of areas. Folks with program ideas or those who would just like to be part of the fun-filled agenda on that first weekend in October should contact program chairman Mary Gibson, 526-9732. There's a chain letter in the works. Originated by Homecoming committee members, the letter will go to former Midlanders across the country...Remember the aim of Homecoming '82. It's hoped that- every household in Midland will have houseguests on that weekend. Move fast.
