Elementary teachers employed by the Simcoe County Board of Education joined the SCBE secondary school teachers by. voting to accept a new contract yesterday. Secondary school teachers voted in favour last Friday. The elementary teachers accepted a contract nearly identical to that accepted by the secondary school teachers: an 8.67 per cent raise for 1981-82, rising to 10 per cent for 1982- 83. At the end of the contract the highest paid teachers would be receiving $41,037. The percentage of elementary teachers voting to accept, 84.5 per cent, was a few percentage points lower than the percentage of secondary school teachers who voted yes. Meanwhile negotiators for SCBE's support staff and the board will be , meeting on Wednesday, June 30, the last day of the support staffs' current contract, in an effort to hammer out a new pact. Three times but not out Chief Norman Stinson has retained his seat ; on the Simcoe County Board of Education despite missing three meetings in a row, cause for losing his seat under the board's bylaws. The chief, who had other business last Wednesday evening, asked for, and was granted, authorization to miss the meeting. Chief Rodney Monague his predecessor, lost his seat on the county school board after missing three consecutive meetings.
