Her death took place in Victoria, British Columbia. Mrs. Zeeley was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Savage and was born and attended school] in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brown visited Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rate in Scarborough on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. S. Harvey returned from spending the winter in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Finley of Regina, Sask. spent holidays with Mrs. Finley's parents Mr. Call 534-3644 for more information. ; On the weekend of May 22 one of St. John's United Church Cen- tennial Celebrations will be held. On Saturday from 1 p.m. a special time will be held when old friends from far and near gather together to visit and talk. There will be Open House Displays of pictures of long ago. A Pot Luck Supper will be held at 6 p.m. after which a_ Fellowship evening will be enjoyed. Church Notepaper will be on sale as well as books on the history of the church. On Sunday special services of Celebration and held at 11:15 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. with Rev. James Somerville of London, President of Compassion of Canada will be the guest speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Franklin of Toronto spent the weekend at their cottage. Mrs. Mildred Matheson of Lindsay spent a recent weekend with her mother Mrs. Laura Belfry. Mr. Glen Mount of Welland visited his mother Mrs. Marjorie Mount while here to attend the funeral of his aunt Mrs. Dorothy Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Teskey of Warminster visited Miss Aileen Arnold last week. At the morning ser- vice in St. John's United Church on May 9 two children were welcomed into the fellowship of the church by the sacrement of baptism by the minister Rev. Wesley Oake. Kevin Jeffrey son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bullock of Penetanguishene and Jason Gerard Howe son of -Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Howe of Victoria Harbour. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Women's league held their May meeting at the home of Mrs. Anne LaChapelle. Mrs. Madeline Juneau opened the meeting with prayer. She also reported six members attended the Regional meeting in Bradford and it is hoped a good number of members will attend the Day of Recollection in Orillia on May 19. Lunch was served following the Funeral Mass for Mr. Brown recently. Mrs. Margaret Bourgeois reported 50 members so far. for the 1982-1983 years. There will be a community shower in St. Mary's Parish Hall on Tuesday, May 25 at 8 a.m. for Douglas and Colleen Moreau who lost everything in a house fire recently. There will also be a shower for the McArthur family who lost their house and belongings in a fire this month. The date for these showers will be announced later. A donation will be given to the most im- proved girl student graduating from St. Mary's School in June. First communion will also be held in June. Plans were made for the summer Bazaar on Saturday July 10. There will be a Bake Table Bazaar, Plant Table, Strawberry Short Cake. Hot Dogs and Pop, Lucky Draws' and Games of Chance. You are asked to prepare you donations for these tables now. Mrs. Rose DesChenes is in charge of plants, Mrs. Rosalie Charlebois and Mrs. Dianne Moreau for Bazaar items knitting, crafts knick-knacks etc. Attends funeral The June meeting wil! be in the form of a dinner out. All ladies of the Parish are welcome. It will be on Wed- nesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. contact Mrs. Adriene Alphonse if you plan to attend. The meeting was closed with prayer led by Mrs. Madeline Juneau. The weekend of July 16-17 has been set aside as Old Home Week-end at the Royal Canadian Legion in Victoria Harbour. It will be a time and place for old friends to get together and talk about The Good Old Days. Bring old pictures if you wish. Keep this weekend in mind and tell your friends.
