And on May 2, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wismer of 778 William Street, Midland, became the parents of a six pound 14 ounce boy. Obituary Maurice Pollard A funeral service for ihe late Maurice Benson Pollard of Waubaushene was held on April 27, 1982, in Nicholls Funeral Home, Midland. Rev. Terry Dunlop of Waubaushene United Church officiated at the service. Interment in Si. John's Cemetery, Waubaushene. The native of Mount Horab, Ont., died at age 82 on April 25 at Huronia District Hospital. He was hospitalized for one week in declining health. He is survived by his wife of many years, Jane Murphy. He also resided in Pori Severn. He was a foreman for Ontario Hydro, and was for many years a lineman and construction worker in Northern Ontario. He retired in 1964. His parents were Thomas and Mary Pollard. His grand- mother was the first white woman to settle in Manvers Township, near Peterborough, Ont. His pallbearers were Don Polkinhorn, Jim Murphy and Kevin Murphy. Remanded to June 14 Jeffery Zummach, 19; of Port MeNicoll is to appear in Midland Provincial Court on June 14 to face charges that stem from a fatal motor-vehicle accident in Penetanguishene last Dec. 9. The Met plays concerts throughout Toronto and is part of outreach program of Toronto's Metropolitan United Church. Present bandmaster Alan Moody began his career playing cornet in the Met when he was 12 years old. Now as leader, he arranges and conducts the group in a varied repertoire which includes show tunes, classics and novelties. St. Paul's choir, directed by Kathleen Mounteer sang sacred and secular numbers, including How Great Thou Art and a group of selections from The King and I. Cheryl Hobson of Sunnyside, whose father is a former Met member, played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, accompanied by the band, later she piped herself down the aisle with Road to the Isles. The musical highlight of the evening for performers as well as audience was a brilliant arrangement (Wilhousky) of Battle Hymn of the Republic, for choir., and band. Audience members joined in the last chorus. Allan Tuckler in a spirited performance of Penetanguishene's Centennial Song, written by Tucker. The concert and junior bands provided a varied program under the direction of Richard Lamoureux, ESPSS music director. Trumpet soloists Patti Murphy, Charlie Cote and Simone DesRoches provided sparkling harmoney in _ Leroy Anderson's Bugler's Holiday. Later in the program, 'concertband member Teresa Puddicomb conducted the junior band in the Muppet Show Theme. A sixteen piece dance band got toes tapping throughout the audience with four bright selections. Trumpeters Patti Murphy and Charlie Cote and sax players Tom Rankin and Greg Bush were featured soloists. Three young vocalists -- Maureen Ferguson, Elain Paulin and Lisa Robitaille -- added variety to the evening's entertainment. When CKMP's Gary Greer climbed onstage to direct the senior band in Instant Concert, Jacqueline Limoges slung a regal red velvet cape around his shoulders, and promised that the band would treat him like a king. Certainly, Greer led the group with regal aplomb.
