This column will inform you of all the details concerning both the centennial mustache and beard growing com- petitions. As you may know, the half way point is March 22nd and a photography session with a reception is planned for that evening at 8 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Building at the town dock. Come and enjoy a visit with the com- petitors and with the enthusiasts of the event. See if your chosen winner is still in the competition. The actual judging of both com- petitions will be Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Dock Building. A panel of judges has been selected and we are now in the process of assem- bling a wide variety of prizes and awards for participants. The three winners in each competition will also win complimentary tickets to the Chamber's 'Centennial Forest Ball" that night at the Legion. At the dance, the official presentation of winners will be made. You have to be there to get the first hand news of the winners. Purchase your ticket while they last at the Chamber Office of the Municipal Office. This exhibit is sponsored by the Ontario Science Centre from Toronto. Coming up On the 24th of this month is a photographic event which will be enjoyed by the amateur and the professional alike. Michael Odesse from Penetanguishene will be hosting the '"'Penetanguishene-The Fair", this will be a photographic evening showing the collections of area prints from Mike, it will take place at the Council Chambers, 10 Robert Street West at 8:00. This is a free admission event and refreshments will be served. This is a reminder of the photo contest that Michael will be sponsoring for the centennial. There will be two categories, and trophies will be awarded for each category, the pictures must be of a recent time and of the Penetanguishene area. The topic or theme of the print can range from the people, the landscape, the buildings, or just your imagination. The prints must be at least 8"x10"-and be either black and white or colour.
