this time of year provides us with an portunity to assess ur development over the past year. It is also a festive time which we _ all can experience in our own individual way. There has been a high level of activity in municipal operations withing the Township of Tay over the past year. I feel that Council has been moving ahead quite positively over the last number of years and many projects have reached fruition this year. With the second full year of operation of the township planning department we are now much closer to finalizing the com- prehensive zoning by- law before the Ontario Municipal Board. _The Township hired a new Treasurer this year and the Building Inspection Department became full time as of April ist. Some by-law enforcement is also handled by this department. To meet present and future needs of better municipal government, your council authorized an expansion of the municipal building this year which will be 'completed in January, 1982. This addition will add both office and ' storage space. The cost of this addition, was budgeted for over the past two years. Construction of a new concrete bridge over the North River on the 13th Concession -was com- pleted this year. This will improve tran- sportation in the south eastern sector of the municipality. The largest im- provement project in the history of the Township has just been completed in Waubaushene. The $1,800,000 waterworks project includes a Let the glad tidings of the season sing out as we rejoice in the Christmas Holidays. YORKTON SECURITIES INC. Charles H. Along with this major project, Chief's warning being heeded, for the most part It would appear most cross-country skiers and snowmobilers have heeded Police Chief Ernest Bates' warning to stay off ice-covered Little Lake in Midland. However several snowmobile tracks were visible Sunday close to shore at the lake. And it appears several snowmobilers were responsible for knocking over floral arrangements at the Catholic Cemetery next to the park on ae weekend. Tracks could be easily seen skirting aretha tombstones in the cemetery, however several snowmobilers, it seems, had slammed into plastic- encased floral arrangements. the Township was able to perform a major road improvement program in Waubaushene with Guess who was here on the weekend? One of Santa's many helpers made a brief visit to a children's Christmas party, hosted by members of Tay Township's Old Fort Road Volunteer Fire Department last Saturday afternoon. The following morning the Jolly gent from the North Pole. attended a similar event hosted by members of the Midland Industrial Hockey League at Midland Arena. And to round out the weekend, Sunday afternoon, our Santa attended Midland Secondary School teachers' children's Christmas party. Starts Friday, Dec.25 7and9: 2 a | Sat. Associated with the waterworks project has been the creation of a new community waterfront park -ad- jacent to the new water treatment facility. The Township entered into a joint. agreement this year on _ the operation of the Cold- water Arena, with the Township of Mat- chedash and the Village of Coldwater. This is one more indication that Tay wishes to co- operate with her neigh- bours as was evidenced earlier by the Waverley Community Centre joint agreement between the Townships of Tiny, Tay, Flos and Medonte. These are some of the activities we have been involved with this year. I believe it is evidence of the Township progressing in 'these times of rapid change.
