Port McNicoll The Girl Guides had their enrollment ceremonies last week. Commissioner Rooney and some of ththe parents were present as nine of the new girls became full-fledged Guides. Each. girl received her enrollment pin. Colleen Kelly was presented with a gift and plaque she should have received last year when she got her Allround cord - the highest award a Girl Guide can receive. Refreshments were served by the three-year girls after the ceremonies. Pore MeNicoll Recreation Board met last week. It was decided that badminton games for adults would be organized and scheduled some time in late January, probably on Wednesday nights. Another teen dance will take place Friday, Jan. 8th. On January 16, the Recreation Board have decided to hold a skating party at the Port MeNicoll Park. It will feature a bond fire and plenty of hot chocolate. On sale now are ten year diaries which the Recreation Board have put together to hold a record of hockey momentoes which your child might wish to have to look back on many years from now. A Christmas Pati perhaps? These diaries can be purchased form any Recreation Board member for $3.50 Responsible _ adults are needed to attend and perhaps help out with volleyball and _ bad- minton for the youngsters. Until a few adults are willing to come out, the Recreation Board can't organize these games. Nearly 100 youngsters have signed up to play either volleyball or badminton already. Your help -~ your presence even, would certainly be ap- preciated. All the grades are participating in the Christmas concert at Port MecNicoll Public School tonight. The Lions Club is putting on a New Years' Eve Dance at the Community Centre. Tickets are on sale now and can be picked up from any Lions Club member. The tickets are $22 per couple and this includes a live band - the Gayle Akroyd Band - and a buffet lunch. It's our favorite time of year... when we pause to thank our many good friends for their patronage in the past. We look forward to serving you in the future.
