Each island has its own set of public holidays, during which everything closes up so if you're planning your proverbial drum: lighter than the holidays, make sure that you don't arrive when everyone is enjoying a day off work. Skin Care One of the more desireable, although disturbingly short-lived, byproducts of an children under 12. Fresh flowers, a fruit basket and chilled champagne will be available on arrival. A island vacation is that rich, dark tan which will make you the envy of all your pallid friends at home. Understandably enough, you will want to get as bronzed as possible, as soon as possible. Just remember, anything more than half an hour to an hour of soaking up the sun's rays on the first day and you will find yourself in a considerable amount of pain. As a rule, build up gradually over three or four days. However, everyone's skin is dif- ferent, so govern your exposure according to your own tolerance. Make liberal use of sunscreen and tanning lotions. Not only do they help prevent sun- burn, but they will replace some of the moisture lost by your skin. If you plan to do anything which involves sitting in the sun for extended periods of time (fishing and sailing are good examples), keep covered. Craighurst by Mrs. M. Craig In common with ail of Simcoe County, this community will long remember the Inter- national Ploughing Match. The ladies of the Women's Institute assisted the Crown Hill W.I. in staffing (I was going to say 'manning', but that didn't seem quite fitting) the Sears Hospitality Tent. Many cups of tea were served each day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Parents of W.R. Best school children worked hard in their food concession, proceeds from which are to go toward the building of the new gym. Loccal farmers were involved in setting up and taking down displays, parking, etc. Even though the weather was less than ideal, match organizers can be proud of a job well done. Better luck to Middlesex next year. Two families' in Craighurst suffered bereavement last month. Mr. G. Montica passed away on Sept. 15, leaving his wife, Dina, daughter Mary Poole of Craighurst and son Victor of Toronto. Our sympathy also goes oul to the Jensen family. Docherty of Barrie, Christine of Edmonton, Alta.; and Ann, Mrs.-D. Cammander, of Kelowna, B.C. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Elsie Kelly of Sussex, N.B.
