Special congratula- tions are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Garneau of Port MeNicoll on their 60th Wedding Anniversary. A special Mass for the couple took place at Scred Heart Church, Port MeNicoll, on Saturday. Father Vincent Egan officiated, assisted by Monsignor Balanger who was altar boy when Marguerite and Gerard Garneau were married back in 1921. On this occasion, Billy Scott was altar boy. Medals from the Archbishop of Toronto, G. Emmett, and Car- dinal Carter were blessed and presented to the couple during Mass. A reception followed in the Church Hall, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Copeland and Dr. Reg Sauve and his wife Terry, who came all the way from Calgary for this special occasion. Allan McLean, M.P.P. for Simcoe East and his wife Marjorie were guests. Mr. McLean presented the couple with a plaque from Premier Davis along with his personal congratulations. Reeve John Moreau presented a plaque from the Village Council along with his and their personal congratula- tions. He was also asked by the Warden of Simcoe County, John Fennell, who was unable to attend, to present the Garneaux with a County cetificate and heartiest congratulations. A Mass was offered for the couple by their friends and neighbours on Simcoe Avenue, to take place Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. Leo Copeland had the honor of passing on to the couple a certificate from Prime Minister Trudeau, a letter from Joe Clarke and a cer- lificate from M.P. Doug Lewis. About 95 guests at- tended the celebration-- out of town guests from Whitby, Oshawa, Toronto and Windsor. Dr. Talbot made the toasts.
