The tournament was a mixed pairs event and those taking part were in competition for the Ed and Winn Pypher trophy, this being an annual event. The rink of Art and Ada Mills of the Roselawn Bowling Club in Owen Sound took the high three games prize with a score of 56 points. Another Owen Sound rink of Cliff and Marie McLellan had three wins and a score of 35 points. The high two game prize went to George and Kay Sanderson of Tottenham with a total of 48 and a plus of one point. Midland teams were successful in taking the last two prize spots, Bruce MacArthur and Eleanor Worfolk had 45 points to take high two games and Jim Worfolk and Clare Ellis took the high score for a one game win with 41 plus two points. The weather was ideal for good bowling although all the players dressed a little warmer than usual. All the greens were filled for this event consisting of 32 bowlers and they were present from Tottenham, Newmarket, Leaside, and Aurora, Markham, Owen Sound Midland. The tournament got underway at 10:30 a.m. and after the first game, the ladies of the local club served a lunch of sandwiches, pie tea and coffee. Between the second and third games, they provided fruit bread, tea and coffee. Stan Harvey was in charge of the draw, assisted by Helena Cheatley. The winner of the lovely quilt which was drawn for at the Lawn Bowling Club on Wednesday afternoon was won by Helen Quesnelle of 6 Maria Street, Penetanguis- hene, with ticket number 2,765.
