W., DOWNTOWN BARRIE e 726-4326 | New church Weather permitting construction of the new Alliance Church on Yonge Street West. in Midland should be completed by early November. The 54 foot by 100 foot building is to be housed on about four acres of land just west of the cemetery on Yonge. Street West. There's to be a parking lot for 40 vehicles and room to expand in future. Saturday, Rev. James Frost and a group of volunteers were on hand at the building site assisting in the church's construction. A number of volunteers also bolster the full-time help throughout the week. The foundation was dug about a month ago and since then the building has started to take shape. Funding for the project has come from the congregation which has about 100 members. -The new church will replace one located at First and Elizabeth streets which has served the faithful for the past 55 years. Rev. Frost says the new church on Yonge Street west will have large quarters for Sunday School and Christian Education classes. The new Alliance Church will have good exposure too since it will be located on one of the main roads leading into and out of Midland. It is interesting to note that just west of the new church building Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church has purchased property with the in- tent of construction of a new church there as well. For Rev. James Frost building a new church has been a brand new experience however it has become a labour of love for both Rev. Frost and od Another popular event at the IPM is the Queen of the Furrow com- petition. Thirty young women, representing counties, regions and districts of Ontario, are vying for the title.
