The G & C ladies came up_ against Oshawa in the first game and were leading 5-2 when their back- catcher, Deanne King, was injured. They only had nine players to begin with and they were forced to put their scorekeeper behind the plate. From there, things went downhill and they ended up losing the match 12-7. Sue Brock and Cindy King shared the pit- ching duties for G & C in that game which went eight innings. In the next game, Penetanguishene G & C met Barrie Glass and Mirror and were edged out 13-12, the shortage of players causing more problems for them. Michelle Lacroix was on the mound for Penetanguishene for that game. Penetanguishene G & C ladies were to be hosting a tournament of their own soon but that has had to be cancelled due to a shortage of teams. They only had _ six teams entered in the tournament which really needs at least eight to work properly. ween the two clubs. Midland had whipped Harrow in Harrow 6-4, the day before. A's training camp Look'n good If Sunday's training camp was any indication, Midland Athletics' will certainly have a com- petitive team for the 1981-82 season. Prospective players were put through a fast paced, two hour work-out and came through with flying colours. During the three practices held so far, there have been a total of thirty-four players trying out for Midland's Intermediate "A" team. Club officials would like to encourage anyone who feels they have the capabilities, tc come out to the practice tonight from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday September 5 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. both at Wasaga Stars Arena. Good defencemen are still needed for this team.
