ONTARIO GOVERNMENT NOTICE PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE The Ministry of Transportation and Com- munications (MTC) has initiated a study to examine potential improvements to Highway 69, from Waubaushene to approximately one kilometre north of Port Severn. Various alternative improvements are being considered in order to correct the deficiencies of the existing highway. Subject to the final outcome of the study, the Ministry is currently proposing: construction of two new lanes on the west side of the existing align- ment to provide for a four-lane freeway facility south of the Severn River and con- struction of a four-lane freeway facility north of the Severn River on an alignment shifted 250m to the west. This study will follow a planning process which has -been approved under the Environmental Assessment Act, 1975. This approval requires than an Environmental Study Report be filed with the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) prior to construction. Public notification of the availability of this report will be made at the time it is sent to MOE. The approval also provides for any member of the public, public group, other Ministry, agency or municipality, to request that an individual environment assessment be prepared for this project, if serious en- vironmental concerns cannot be resolved. Where these concerns are deemed significant by MTC, and/or MOE, then the en- vironmental assessment would be subject to a formal review and approval process and be subject to a hearing, where necessary. A public information centre will be held to permit the public to examine MTC proposals. Members of the general public are invited to attend the information centre to discuss their interests in this project. The centre will be held as follows: DATE: Thursday, July 23rd, 1981 TIME: 9:00.a.m. 'till Noon; 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.;6:30 to 10:00 p.m. PLACE: Community Centre, Area Municipality of Georgian Bay, Baxter Ward, Muskoka Road 5, (A kilometre west of Hwy 69 across from Golf Course Road) We are interested in hearing any comments or concerns you or your group may have about this project. lf you wish to receive further information, please contact us.
