Unusual job for foursome Four local young people will be canvassing the Elmvale area gathering information from Senior Citizens regarding programs and existing services in this region in the next few weeks: The canvassers, Sally Potts, Cathy Anderson, Geraldine Stone and Kathy Hubbard are working under a Canada Works Project grant and are sponsored by the Elmvale and District Ministerial Association. The ladies will be gathering information dealing with services aiding local seniors and-plan to publish an information, guide for those residents, informing them of benefits they are eligible for, phone numbers or various emergency groups and much more. The students hope to ganvass Elmvale businesses and obtain senior citizen discounts at each, with information regarding those discounts scheduled for inclusion in a booklet, they will assemble on completion of the project. Some of the new programs the girls would like to see introduced in the Elmvale area are ones presently in existence in other towns. Meals-on-Wheels was one program mentioned, a drop-in centre and the link exchange program, where work is exchanged on a co-operative basis - were all discussed. The group is also looking at the possibility of a nursing home in the village and according to manager Sally Potts, the feedback on that proposition has been enthusiastic so far.
