by John Dennis Well, it's finally here again the end of another school year. Pencils, chalk and books are replaced with fishing rods, baseball gloves and swimming' trunks. We hope all you students have a good summer and that it is a safe and profitable one. Congratulations to "Bus" and Joy Stuckey who celebrated their 39th wedding = an- niversary on June 6. We hope "Bus" and Joy enjoyed their special day. A Canada Fitness Program will be held at the Wyebridge Com- munity Centre at 9 a.m. Saturday July 11 for young people aged 7-17. Participants are awarded for their level of achievement. Grades Wyevale Grierreunion School's out! are based on excellence level on all six test items, gold level on five test items including endurance run, silver level on four test items including _endurance run, and bronze level on four test items including endurance run. The Canada Fitness Program is not a competition between participants but rather an individual fitness test against an established national standard. Andrea MacLennan has recently returned from hospital where she spent a féw days. We are glad to see her home and wish her a speedy recovery. Relatives came from Midland, Barrie, Orillia, Toronto, St. Thomas and other parts of our beautiful province. The lovely weather made it possible to have a group picture taken, which will be a happy reminder to all. ' Mr. and Mrs. Victor Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Campbell flew to Regina, Saskatchewan early in June to be with Brian, Victor and Mary's son, on his 21st. birthday. Edgar celebrated his 87 birthday at the same time, their's being only a day apart. The parents and grandparents rented a car and visited friends while there. The Wyevale Free Methodist Church held a Baptismal Service on Sunday June 21 when Matthew, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Slama from Stouffville, was baptized. We are very sorry to learn that Mrs. Hilda Phillips had the misfortune to fall and break a hip. She has undergone surgery and seems to be progressing well. The June meeting of the Pine Ridge Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Del Reynolds June 18. Eighteen members and two visitors were present. Plans are being made to take a bus trip to the International Ploughing Match at Crownhill on Wednesday, September 30. The Sick and Visiting Committee for July are Mrs. Margaret Mar- cellus and Mrs. Margaret Martin. For August the Committee is Mrs. Winnifred Reynolds and Mrs. Isobelle Campbell. This is the 20th Anniversary of the Pine Ridge Women's Institute. To honour this oc- casion a tree will be planted near the Cen- tennial Garden. A Pot Luck Supper will be held in the fall to help celebrate this occasion. The Institute accepted an invitation to serve at a reception August 1 on the occasion of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Champaigne's 255 'toh Wedding Anniversary. Judy Hall gave a very interesting report on the District Annual held in Elmvale Roll Call - Little Things I Hope To Do Better Next Year. Motto - Action in the Community begins with you. This was com- mented on by Irma Cox. There will be no July or August Meeting. Mrs. Bernice Drinkle introduced Mrs. Muriel Jacobs, who spoke on Resolutions and general institute information. She had attended Officer's conference at Waterloo this year and had lots of information for them. She also enquired as to what project our Branch has for the disabled this year. A tasty lunch was served by Mrs. Del Reynolds and Mrs: Verna Nerpin. Tools stolen - from Port man The Midland OPP is investigating the theft of $1,000 worth of tools belonging to a Port MeNicoll man, which were taken between June 16 and 17. The tools, the property of Stanley Legault, were taken from a tool shed in Port McNicoll after the locked shed doors were forced open. Last Monday Hillsdale Hurler Mark Ronald went through the Wyebridge Warriors like a hot knife through butter as Hillsdale beat our boys 12-0, in Hillsdale. Thursday evening saw Perkinsfield at Wyebridge and _ the score was somewhat more indicative of Wyebridge's ability to play ball as_ they doubled the Perky's 8-4. Paul Rowe was on the mound and was sup- ported offensively by Carl Cowen with a two- run homer and Bob Dutton with a_ single homer. Congratulations Wyebridge. Wyebridge Warriors will be holding a garage sale and bake sale at the Wyebridge Community Centre on Saturday June 27 starting at 10 a.m. 50 or more well- wishers gathered at the Orange Centre on Wednesday night, June 10. The happy occasion was a miscellaneous shower for Stephen Hall! and Elaine LePage. Stephen is the son of Ted and Judy Hall and Elaine is the daughter of Isadore and _ Doris LePage. The couple received numerous and beautiful girfts. They plan to marry soon. The Centennial Gardens are looking beautiful again as Mrs. Margaret Marcellus and some of her helpers have been exercising their green thumbs. The Orange Centre now sports a nice rail Weekend visitors by Mrs. M. Gervais Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Adamson and sons of Elmvale visited the former's mother Mrs. Marion Adamson recently. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Burns with Cathie and .Karen of Burlington spent a recent weekend with their aunt, Mrs. Gordon Gervais. Miss Mabel Brown, R.N. a lifetime resident of Victoria Harbour died in Huronia District Hospital, Midland last week. Interment took place in the family plot in Victoria Harbour Union Cemetery. Miss Brown was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Byron Brown and is survived by her sister Mrs. Florence Belcher. Kim Meeher of Mississauga rode her bicycle from her home to visit her aunt Mrs. Ella Murray in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Donovan of Lyndon visited the former's mother Mrs. Edna Donovan and Miss Gail Donovan for the weekend. Keith Webb of Oshawa visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Webb for the weekend. Donald Durns and son Chris of Mississauga spent from Friday to Sunday with his aunt Mrs. G. Gervais. If four-leaf clovers bring good luck, the smile of fortune will be upon Jeanne Webb, who picked up 75 in her garden. Victoria Harbour Victoria Harbour and vicinity took a bus trip and spent five days at Scott's Resort near Deposit, New York, last week. From the village were Mrs. Grace Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brown, Mrs. Edna Donovan and Miss Gail Donovan, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Murphy, Mrs. Helen Gatehouse and Mrs. Nell Capistrand. They all report a very good time was had by all.
