They will at- tend the wedding of Monika Wagner on June at. The Faint Reunion was held in the Vasey Community Park on Sunday with ap- proximately 52 at- tending. A delicious picnic lunch and a variety of games and contests made for a good time. Those at- tending came from Toronto, Manitoulin Island, Shelburne, Crossland, Bramalea, Midland Point and surrounding area. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mackenzie who will celebrate fifty years of marriage on June 20. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Morrison and Danny of Burns Lake, B.C. are visiting Mrs. Morrisons parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvern Isaac. Vasey Senior and Minor Ball teams hosted a very successful ball tournament on Satur- day. Thank you to all who contributed in time, effort, and donations of food to make this a very profitable venture. On Monday evening June 8, the official "Turn On" of the "Lighting the Park" project was held in the Vasey Community Park. Grant Robinson of the Vasey Community Park Board welcomed those present and recounted how this project was a result of efforts by the com- munity over the years, first those who founded the park and those who have contributed to its upkeep and im- provements over the years. Electrolysis Association When the electricity was installed in the park, the dream of some day having lighting was one step closer. The-completion of this project was a super effort by Tay and Medonte Township Recreation and Parks Committees and the entire community, Reeve Charles Rawson of Tay and Deputy-reeve Lyttle Johnston of Medonte brought greetings from their townships and the ribbon cutting was done by these two gentlemen officially turning on the lights. ' Refreshments were served and the two Vasey Senior teams, the Twin Lakes and the Royals enjoyed playing under the lights until the fifth inning when the rain concluded the evening. Brad Parkinson of Elliott Lake and Vivian Lane of Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island recently spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rumney. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Smitham formerly of Sparwood, B.C. have returned home to take up residence in the community. Sunday morning the Vasey United Church congregation and Sunday School held an outdoor worship service in the park. Following the service promotion certificates were presented to the children and Sharon Graham was presented with a plaque for her efforts during the year. A picnic lunch was enjoyed by all and races, relays and a super ball game ended the day's events. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Edwards were guests Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Edwards of Barrie. _ Saturday evening a number of neighbours gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim McKenzie on the oc- casion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
