YMCA reaching out again this year Midland YMCA is about to begin another Outreach Swimming Program for children in the Huronia areas. Due to the success and popularity of last year's program, they have decided to offer this activity once again. The lessons start June 29 and end August 21 and are divided into two week sessions. The children are taught swimming skills and water safety rules over this two week span. The aim is to provide a program that will ensure a safe summer for children who are by the water and to im- prove basic swimming techniques for the in- dividual. Specific pools are designated within the neighbourhoods of the Huronia communities. Competent instructors will meet the children Bernice Edith Lyons daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Lyons of Midland graduated from University of Waterloo Co-op program with a Bachelor of Mathmatics degree, on May 30, 1981. In between work assignments with Kenneth W. Ball and Co. Chartered Accountants she is studying for exams required for the CA designation. daily for one hour for their lessons. Classes are not held on weekends or statutory holidays, July 1 and August 3. In order to fulfill the program objectives and teach the lessons in the convenience of your own neighbourhood, the YMCA requests the public help. Because of the shortage of public pools in these areas the YMCA requires pools to be donated by the private sector. This would involve using private pools for two hours daily, Mon- day through' Friday for a period of two weeks. If you are interested in donating your pool for these classes, please contact the Midland Family YMCA at 526- 7828 for more. in- formation.
