Take part in festival contests. Something different has an old- fasion jelly-bean counting contest in the store. This newspaper will be holding a Summer Festival amateur photograph contest. Watch for further details of this photography event in the paper. The Penetanguishene General Hospital auxiliary will be holding its Thank-You Tea and Open House June 28, as part of the festivities! "We want to invite everyone to our Thank- You Tea, to show them what their generous donations have. ac- complished at the hospital.'"' The tour of the new chronic care section will be an in- teresting Sunday outing. Are you a scuba, or skin-diving enthusiast? All week long, Sub Services will be con- ducting a harbour sweep at the town dock. This is an underwater clean up. Wednesday, . they are organizing an underwater treasure hunt at the dock. There will also be a week-long program of instruction and demonstrations of skin and scuba _ diving equipment and techniques. Be sure to come down and watch. Kids! Wednesday morning, July 1, there will be a fishing derby for under 16's. Duval's Variety is sponsoring the event. There willbe # prizes, such as a trophy mounting of your fish, and the only cost for this contest is your summer festival button. Be down at the dock on Wednesday morning and you might be a winner. Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. there will bea second Family Nature Walk at the Penetanguishene Park Nature Trails on Robert Street, near the water- works. A_ naturalist from the Wye Marsh will explain about the nature trails and identify birds, flowers and plants for you. Bring binoculars and dress according to weather. Every day at 2 p.m. the Georgian Queen will leave the dock area for its scienic boat cruise, but Friday, July 3, youcan get a ticket for a romantic moonlight festival cruise. Inquire at the Chamber office today. The homecoming and hospitality theme of the Summer Festival is being supported by the special festival hospitality breakfast offered each morning at the Hotel Brule dining room. Tuesday evening, the Commodore Hotel will be having their homecoming evening " and friends are invited Special week The week of June 15-20 will be our local "Hire a Student Week". You may be asking, "why?". Well this special week is set aside to make people more aware of our services and our location. Also to show that students are ready, willing and able to work. Home of champions to bring old pictures and memories and share them with friends at this nostalgia evening. The Protestant Separate School Board and Burkevale School is celebrating its cen- tennial with. a homecoming celebr- ation day, Saturday, We plan on doing this with an official opening, free windshield wash, student versus. the employers _ volleyball match, and a shoe shine. We are hoping the mayor's of both Penetanguishene and Midland will be in at- tendance along with a number of the local 7 Parkview School in Midland is the home of some very good baseball players. That night, Satuday, July 4, the Legion will hold its open home- coming dance. It's a chance to show our fine hospitality to friends who've been away. Be sure you invite someone back for the Summer Festival. Remember - this is a community event, with you at the heart. Focus will be on hiring students employers at our of- ficial opening 10 a.m. Monday June 15, to start the week. We will be holding two free car windshield wash's. One in Penetanguishene at the town dock, Thursday afternoon. The other in the parking lot of the Midland Super Save on Friday afternoon.
