Figures are not quite complete yet, but it would seem that we have reached our target of $30,000. We are especially grateful to the volunteers who canvassed the area, to the Quota Club for their Daffodil Day, and to the local news media and McLean Hunter Cable TV, for their coverage of the campaign. We now have an Information Centre at 483 Hugel Ave, Midland. This office will deal with any exquiries regarding our services, issue receipts for campaign funds and donations, will have in memorium cards available, and pamphlets on cancer-related topics. The office is presently open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please try to drop in for a visit while you are downtown. Anyone with enquiries regarding the office should phone Mary Luke at 526-9175 or 361-1385. The Contact Centre, 526-9333 will still relay general information and enquiries for the Unit. & Wood's "Truckload" ACT FAST...SAVE 2 WAYS during Therrien There are some very talented draft- spersons at Midland Secondary School as evidenced by the Simcoe County Drafting Competition held recently in Barrie. Joan Dey, center won the title of top draftspersons in Simcoe County at that competition and she was ioined by Andrew Durrwachter, left who won second place for all Grade 9's in Simcoe County, Ken Kussen, rear center who placed second in Grade 12 mechanical drafting and Perry Rittenshofer, right who took third in Grade 12 mechanical drafting. FREEZER Happy to help Town declines to buy Main Street factory Penetanguishene council is passing on a chance to buy the former Aquarobic building on 28 Main Street. The town does not have the money to either buy the building, raze it, and turn the property into a park, or the money to buy the building and renovate it for commercial use. But the town is willing to help as best it can to get loans or grants or grant guarantees for any developer interested in buying the building. Last Monday Deputy-reeve St. Amant suggested that the red brick, former factory would be well situated for an apartment building, which the town could use, because people looking for apartments are having to move out of town. Mayor Bellisle pointed out that even if the building were purchased and razed by the town, that a house 'and garage would still stand in the immediate area. Any commercial development would necessitate the provision of more parking in the area. Council was asked to think about leasing property behind the factory for parking that would possibly suit both visitors to the building and users of the waterfront park. | 85 Main St. Penetanguishene Phone 549-8841 Is pleased to welcome Cathy Ladouceur back to our staff.
