Farmstead and home competition The 1981 International Plowing Match will be held on the farm of Gordon Atkinson in Simcoe County and will include neigh- bouring farms in the area. The date is September 29 through October 3. In conjunction with the plowing match a Farmstead and Home Improvement Comp- etition is being held. Objective of the competition is to en- courage residents to help make Simcoe County as attractive as possible to visitors to the plowing match. Many attractive prizes and awards will be given at the con- clusion of the com- petition and a county champion and reserve will be selected in each class. There are six classes in the competition. Closing date for entry to Classes 1 and 2 was July 1, 1980. However, entries may still be made in Classes 3,4, 5 and 6. These entries must be made by June 1, 1981. The classes are - class 3, farmsteaad - most at- tractive - already im- proved. Class 4, rural or urban home - most attractive - already improved (includes towns and villages). Class 5, most at- tractive century farm. Class 6, historical home 75 years or older (in- cludes Barrie and Orillia). The competition is open to residents within the boundaries of Simcoe County. Each participant may enter one class only. Farmsteads must be owner-operated, with a minimum of five acres in size. For this competition, a farmstead is defined as that part of the farm comprising of the buildings, the entrance and the immediate surrounding land. An awards banquet for the competition has been arranged for the Creemore Legion Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 9, all participants will be invited to attend. Entry fee is $10, payable with the ap- plication, to treasurer, local committee - 1981 International Plowing Match.
