id Bowling News by Dennis Brabant The Midland-Pene- tanguishene five-pin Bowling Association will hold it's annual meeting on Sunday, May 31 at Knight Haven Lanes at 1 p.m. All members are welcome to attend as well as non-members interested in joining the association next season. Elections will be held to fill some vacant positions on the board of directors and also fill some vacant executive positions. The current executive will read: off their reports for the year and field any questions from the floor. There will also be some "fun" bowling afterwards for those interested. Hillsdale tournament The annual Hillsdale: Park Fastball Tournament will be held this Saturday and Sunday in Hillsdale and teams representing Midland, Warminster, Hillsdale and Elmvale are scheduled to take The tournament will get underway at 10 a.m. Saturday morning with a match between Clarkson Hotel of Barrie and Udell's Sports of Barrie's Simcoe Hotel team will face Mr. Transmission, also of Barrie at 11 a.m. At noon the host club Hillsdale will play Oro Service; Marsden's Trophies will meet Starr Electric and at 2 p.m. the Elmvale Sporting Goods will face Giffen Farm Equipment of Minesing. Fastball games will continue throughout the day until approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday and a refreshment garden and concession will be located at the park. - will see games com- mence at 12 noon when the final round of play decides the tournament winners. All proceeds of the annual tournament will go towards the Park Building Fund in at 1 p.m. Brooklea Fore-cast by Al Milligan Junior Chairman Welcome to another season which will be more competitive than last. To date, there are three extra trophies that will be "up for grabs" this year. One has been donated by our popular men's club members, Rainer Wegener who also won the draw on May 6, the other two having been donated by our popular professional Russ Howard'smother and father. A special word of thanks must be given to another of our members Lloyd Roberts for the effort he has been putting in to help the juniors. Congratulations go to junior Colin Mulligan playing in the Men's Club on Wednesday evening, tying Karl Lehr, by shooting a 40 over the front nine holes. Well done, Colin. Minor lacrosse starting next week Midland Minor Lacrosse teams will be getting into action next week with the Bantam lacrosse team kicking off their schedule with a game in Barrie Tuesday, that match starting at 8 p.m. - They will then hold a practice on Thursday in Midland Centennital Arena from 8 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. The midgets will be practicing in Midland arena Tuesday but will be playing a game Wednesday in Midland when they will host the team from Huntsville. There is an 8 p.m. game time set for that match. Novice lacrosse players will be prac- ticing in Midland Arena Thursday night from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tend as "all" leagues will be approached to join the association next year, The Midland Industrial League completed its play-offs last Wednesday with some very fine efforts being registered. Quality Carpet Care took the championship playoffs with a score of 6,416 for five games which included two single games over 1,400. The Bayshore Lanes teams captured first place in the consolation play-offs with a total of 6,120. Maurice made it past the first round with a 251 score and won 36 before being knocked-out. Sam and Dennis made it the quarter finals before being knocked out and won $54 each. The eventual winner was Walter Roth of Listowel who defeated Jack Wells of Bracebridge 249 to 238 to | win $270. Midland is trying to have a summer league again this year starting in June.
