; BS ae Curtain going up Friday on Midsummer Mink Mary acl "Midsummer Mink" which opens Friday at Sacred Heart School in Midland will introduce three newcomers to Huronia Players, Deborah Hallyburton, Ted Drennan and Frank Holm. They provide a delightful addition to the experienced and popular "'regulars" who make up the balance of the cast. Deborah Hallyburton is a Midland girl who followed her interest in drama all through school, first at Midland Secondary School and later at Trent and Queen's University. She has done both musicals and drama. '"'Somehow, I always seemed to be cast as a noisy older woman," she laughs. While not rehearsing as the vivacious and questionable Mme. Chambert in "Mid- summer Mink" she works at co-ordinating children's programs at the Military and Naval Establiishments for the Ministry of Culture and Recreation. Fence Ted Drennan acts asa fence called Mike, a shady sort of character who disposes of the stolen furs. In private life he is the proprietor of T & G. Fabrics Ine. on King Street. Before casting, Director May Williams overheard him clowning around in the store in a rich Irish brogue. '"'Why not read for my play?"' she asked. Ted did and got the role. Asked about his previous stage ex- perience, he replied with a twinkle in his eye. "Forty-five years ago, Ted Drennan was well- known professionally in this town. He was in all the skits the Y's Men's Club put on at the YMCA and he sang in the church choir. This isn't a comeback though. That was my father! He was manager of the Loblaws store here. Ted left Midland when he was6i'six months old and did not return until after the Second War when he came to work for RCA. Frank Holm grew up in Victoria Harbour, the son of Bill and Helen Holm. Most of his adult life was spent in Toronto where he was involved with such prestigious theatre companies as the award-winning Scarborough Players and Playhouse 66. He also has done television and movies. When he returned to these parts to work for Jones Construction, he naturally headed for Huronia Players. Holm will play Ted, a policeman who is sweet on Lily, the maid. Cast These three provide a delightful addition to the eiight Players' regulars who make up the balance of the cast. February 1980 May Williams' directed "Breath of Spring", a British comedy about some British ladies and one brigadier who ac- cidentally become _ in- volved in the stolen fur trade. They liked it. Audiences loved them! "Midsummer Mink" brings the fur coat gang back again and oh my - how much they have learned! You might' say "Midsummer Mink" has anallstar cast with such well-known thespians as Emily Lloyd, Nora Thompson, Lee Knight, Audrey Hamilton, Ray Holt and the Hanna family, Joan, Bill and Beverley. Some of these people have beginning twenty years ago. They are enjoying bringing the zany "Breath of Spring" characters back to life.
