O.F.G. Competitions On Saturday April 11, 1981, four of our girls are off to Scarborough to compete in the Metro East / Metro West Consolation Meet This meet is open to any girls of these regions who have not qualified for the Provincials. This meet provides us with an excellent opportunity to expose our gymnasts to competition as well as seasoning them for future meets. We will be represented by Beatty Spencer, Lysa Marchand, Monica Hinrikus and Lorraine Lacroix. All of these girls are in the Tyro B category. Sunday will see our boys' team off to ~ PENETANG -- MIDLAND ye «GYM CLUB Gymnastics Corner Cambridge for their competition. This invitational meet is open to all clubs in Ontario and Ohio, Although this meet will not affect the standing for the Provincials trials, it will definitely be a learning experience for our two gvmnasts. The Hurons will be represented by Loris Ferraro in the cadet category and Jason Held of the Argo division. Provincials Our competitive teams had a very successful year this season. We ended up qualifving two gymnasts for the Provincial up in Thunder Bay in May, Loris Ferraro qualified for the boys while Gabi Held is the alternate for the girls. It is interesting to note Beatty Spencer missed qualifying by .35 of a mark. After our first full season in O.F.G. Competition, we feel that our club has gained a great deal of confidence and knowledge in gymnastics. This experience will be used to help us plan for next year's program. We hope to have these plans finalized in the very near future. Developmental Program Due to the success of our program and the resulting increase in the number of participants, we were forced to turn many people away. We are planning to correct this situation so that more gymnasts can eniov our program. Conclusion If our plans work out to our satisfaction we would end up with a total of five divisions, three at the developmental level and two at the competitive level. We would also be working out for a total of 25 hours per week using two facilities and employing approximately 15 people. This new system would allow us to ex- pand from our present 120 gymnasts to possibly 150. We are hoping to have a ratio of five or six gymnasts to one coach. T find this kind of growth very im- pressive. It points out that there is definitely a need for this kind of programming in Huronia. We need your help, both financially and in manpower. Don't be afraid! Get in- volved. Try it, you'll like it!!! Gymnastics Calendar Sat. April 11/ 81 - Consolation Meet-Girls Scarborough Sun. April 12/81 - International Meet-- Bovs Cambridge Sat.
