----------------------------------------r Contact 526-9333 Today as I sat down to write the Contact column, I suddenly realized this would be the last one I will be writing and a feeling of sadness and melancholy came over me. Mary Gibson It is always very difficult to say goodbye to someone that you have grown to love and respect and has become Board official attends meet Becky Marchildon, president of the Midland-Penetang Real Estate Board, was the board's primary delegate to the annual conference of the Ontario Real Estate Association in Toronto last month. Marchildon joined the presidents of 47 other local real estate boards which make up the Association and which represent organized real estate in the major towns and cities of Ontario. This year the con- ference was spread over two major downtown hotels -- the Sheraton Centre and the Hotel Toronto -- and more than 500 delegates in total attended the three- day affair from Feb. 22- 24. Becky Marchildon Speakers at the conference included former Toronto Mayor David Crombie, con- troversial author Barbara Amiel, as well as a host of real estate and financial experts. Marchildon was one of four representatives from the Penetang Board. They participated in the association's business session which elected the 1981 Board of Directors. In all, the Ontario Real Estate Association represents nearly 25,000 brokers and_ sales representatives in Ontario, more than 80 per cent of all real estate licensees in Ontario and more than 50 per cent of all licensees in Canada. a part of your life - and so it is with my leaving Contact. When I came to Contact in September of 1976, I felt very alone and very, very inadequate. Now nearly five years later I feel so very fortunate for having had the op- portunity of serving Contact, and by carrying out the mandate of helping people to help them- selves, I am a much richer person. This wealth is cer- tainly not of the monetary kind but the richness I have gained in friends - some over the telephone which I have never met face to face and many, many out in the communities of the area that Contact serves. During my tenure as Administrator of Contact, I had many occasions to call on various agencies and many people for advice and assistance. I wish to publicly thank all those people who gave of their knowledge and time so willingly. A special thanks to Mrs. Marion Reed and Mrs. Barb Emerson, for without them Contact would never have run so smoothly and_ ef- ficiently. They always made my job so much easier and were always ready with a helping hand when I needed it. Lhe new Administrator has been chosen by Contacts' Board of Directors after much deliberation. Some of you will know Mrs. Irene Quesnelle, through her work as a conscientious volunteer in the community. Irene will bring her own special talents to Contact and as I leave I know Contact is in very capable hands and it will flourish and grow for many more years. Irene Quesnelle So, Welcome Irene to Contact. It is one of the most worthwhile organizations I have ever been associated with. Happiness is helping people to help them- selves. Mary M. Gibson.
