Midland figure skaters do well in Barrie | Midland figure skaters were successful, Sunday, in Dunlop Street Arena, Barrie, competitors in novice ladies and Lisa Kinnear finished eighth as well in a field of 13 for in- division. Laura Edwards placed seventh in in- termediate ladies dance skaters solo in a field of 11 and Wendy Haseneier was seventh in senior ladies dance solo behind Susan Carrington in sixth. Cindy Mandley was fifth in open ladies dance solo and she also doubled as one of the judges for the other competitions. Orser also gave a skating exhibition at the event. The club from Barrie when they competed in the South Georgian Bay Interclub Competition. There were six clubs entered in the com- petition from Barrie, Collingwood, Midland, Orillia, Owen Sound and Stayner. In the pre-novice men's division, Patrick Lalonde took first while Michelle Mcllravey captured third in the pre-novice ladies. Charlene Myers was termediate ladies. In senior ladies, Sherri Dion was first, her teammate, Wendy Quesnelle taking eighth in that division. Lisa Kinnear and Cory Raeburn were sixth in novice similar dance, Kinnear also winning novice ladies dance solo. Junior ladies dance solo winner was Sherri Dion and she was joined by Wendy Quesnelle Port McNicoll boys take top spot - Port MecNicoll School's boys' basketball team have claimed top spot in area three for the second time in two years, winning the league tournament at Burkevale Public S=c hoo 0) | in Penetanguishene Saturday. Air Canada Can Now Sell Canadian Wine Air Canada will now be allowed to sell Canadian wines on its international flights as a result of special arrangements made bet- ween the federal departments of Revenue and Agriculture. Due to regulatory problems, this was not -- possible in the past. The resolution resulting in the sale of Canadian wine will boost our domestic wine industry because it offers them international exposure that could lead to better appreciation of our product and ex- panded world markets. Those two teams played each other to break the tie, Burkevale coming out on top.
