D Local teams vie Penetanguishene Jr. C Kings hockey club really need to get ahead of Bracebridge Bears in league standings if they want to have a good position for the playoffs. According to playoff arrangements for the league, the first place team can choose to play either the fourth, fifth or sixth place team in the first round of the playoffs. The second place team can choose to play one of the two teams left when the first place team has made their decision. The third place team gets to play the team that has not been chosen by either the first or second place team. Penetanguishene Kings is presently in third place. only one point behind Bracebridge Bears with 40 points. Gravenhurst Indians are leading the league with 49 points and should be able to hold onto that lead until the end of the season. If the Kings are to advance in the standings and get a better choice in the playoffs, they must have the fans' support. With only two home games left, they are hoping that the hockey fans will come out ready to give vocal evidence that they are behind their team. Midland Centennials, on the other hand cannot possibly get into one of the key three spots and they must concentrate only on not slipping into last place and out of the playoff positions. Looking at the standings so far though, that would be a difficult thing for the Centennials to do and it's a safe bet that they will be in the playoffs.
