The last three places in the league were oc- cupied by Alley Cat's, Morton's rink off to finals Midland skip Lynn Morton and her rink won the "A" division in Provincial Division Curling Playoffs yesterday in Penetanguishene in fine style. This means the Tay Township curler along with teammates Vivian Shaw, Margaret Bourgeois and Gwenn Milley will be heading to the provincial finals Jan. 19-22 at Kitchener Granite Club. The Morton rink took two 10-end games yesterday in the double knock-out series which attracted rinks from Districts 9, 10, 11 and 12 from Midland, Markdale, Lindsay and Gravenhurst. Yesterday morning the Morton foursome tripled the score on Markdale 12-4 while Midland squeezed past Gravenhurst in the afternoon 7-6. In the morning round Gravenhurst drubbed Lindsay 9-5 while it took an extra end in the afternoon for Lindsay to win over Markdale 8- 7 to prompt this morning's game for the ""B" title between Lindsay and Gravenhurst which got rolling in high gear at 9:30 a.m. All games were scheduled 10-end affairs. From all reports those who watched the gals in action saw some of the best curling ever played at Penetanguishene Curling Club. One week into the second series, things are shaping up pretty much the same as the first series but a few teams have made a move or two. Lucky Striker's im- mediately took the lead Sunday with five wins and one loss for 12 points. Alley Cat's made a jump of two spots from their finish in the first series to take over second place with 10 points. Most other fhings in the league stood though including Dean Chap- man's high average for men at 215, Stella McIntaggart's high average for ladies at WS} Gerald Lesperance's' high singles flat 'and with handicap at 350 and 365, Shirley Simmonds high single flat for men at 289, Betty Thayer's high single with handicap at 343.
