| %"% by Ken St. Amant Last Saturday, Dec. 12 was a very big day for our club. This is our second season in 0.G.F. and the first qualifying gymnastics meet this year was a measure of our success or failure. Out of the fifteen or so gymnasts slated to go, only four managed to be ready in time for this important gym meet. Meet Results The Argo B division was represented by ten year old Gabi Held. She was very impressive indeed. Gabi placed eighth overall, accumulating a composite score of 29.19. She was just five points shy of the first place winner. She also earned a third place ribbon for her 8.4 score on the floor exercise. A marked * improvement over last year. IPDS SDPDALASSASSAS AD AAS SSADAS SASS SSS LS PENETANG -- MIDLAND The Tyro B category had three competitors: Beatty Spencer, Lorraine Lacroix and Crystal Manson. Once again, there was a drastic improvement over last year. Beatty Spencer placed ninth overall with a composite score of 29.48. Two marks separated her from the first place finisher. Her best performance was on the uneven bars. Her score of 8.33 earned her a second place ribbon. Lorraine Lacroix managed to pick up a tie for sixth place on the floor. She scored 8.10 and looked very impressive. Although Crystal Manson didn't win any ribbons, improvement over last year's scores were evident. Her composite score of 27.22 was four marks short of the leader. Conclusion_ The coaching staff was basically pleased with the results of the gymnastic meet. Many coaches from some of the other clubs came over: and commented on the im- provement that they noticed in our club. The remarks were music to our ears. It is our hope that at the next meet in March we will be able to send a few more gymnasts to it. Many members of our club went to Toronto to cheer our girls on and they came away feeling that they could compete successfully as well. Who knows? With hard work anything is Dossible. Holiday Schedule It was the consensus of opinion of the coaches and the executive, that the Hurons should shut down during the Christmas holidays.
