A Port MeNicoll resident, Leona Lever, 28. was charged with following too closely following a late evening accident Saturday on King Street by the Midland Curling Club. Police say Lever was behind a vehicle driven by RR 1, Wyevale resident Frank Hall, 18, also in the curb lane heading south. The collision occurred when Hall turned into the curling club driveway and Lever's car struck Hall's car. Lever was charged with following too closely. Neither party was injured. Several complaints were made to the police around 6 p.m, Saturday that youths on the overhead bridge on Heritage-Drive near the RCA plant were throwing rocks at cars passing underneath. One vehicle had its windshield broken and hood dented. Police did not find anyone in the area when they responded to the calls. Accident A single vehicle ac- cident at 1:35 a.m. Saturday resulted in $2,000 damage to_a_car driven by William Street, Midland, resident Ralph Beford, 7, Beford, travelling east on Lescaut Road, failed to round a left curve. jumped the curb, corssed a lawn, and hit a light pole. One minute after midnight Saturday two cars moving in opposite directions on Yonge Street collided when one car turned into the path of the other. Involved were Daniel Smith, 29, of Ontario Street. Midland, who was westbound, and Frank Murphy, 25, of Randall's Crescent Midland, moving east. Smith was charged with making a turn not in safety. No injuries resulted, but damage to Smith's car was $400, to Murphy's car, $300. A single-vehicle ac- cident on Yonge Street Fridav night near 11 p.m. ended with $500 damage to a wood picket fence, and other undetermined damage. Sign Police say a car driven by Alexander Desjardin, 43, of Hugel Avenue, Midland, being directed east, went out of control, hit a street sign, the cement curb, and the fence. Desjardin was charged with impaired driving and excess alcohol. Full details on a rush- hour Friday afternoon accident at King Street and Heritage Drive are still not available. Involved were Joseph Carwacki, 24, of Bay Street Midland and John Stainton, ie of Margaret Street, Port MeNicoll. Damage to Car- wacki's car was $500. The extent of damage to the other car, the cir- cumstances of the ac- cident. and charges, if any. were unavailable Monday. There were, however, no injuries. Treatment for rabies not fun Calling it a very serious health problem, about 180 elementary school children are undergoing anti-rabies treatment these days as a result of being in contact with rabid cats during the past few weeks. 'Most of the young people being treated are from the Lefroy area believed to have come in contact with rabid cats that had been frequenting their schoolyard. Theft case adjourned Jamie Lawson, 18, of 64% Dunlop Street, Barrie, appeared in Midland provincial court Monday on a charge of theft under $200 in connection with the Oct. 1 theft of money from a King Street apartment. The case was ad- journed to Dec. 22. Also appearing in provincial court in Midland Monday was James Dagg, 30, of no Van takes on new look It would appear at times members of Midland Fire Department have been working 'round the clock to outfit the departmen t's tactical unit so as to convert it into a rescue van. More and more equipment is being added to the van these days thanks to Midland Jaycee's '"'Save a Life' campaign which has raised money to purchase extrication equipment for the fire department including a new set of "jaws," which MFD took possession of earlier this week.
