Dave Robertson, a Troop Scouter from Port MeNicoll, organized the event. It took place near Midland Point in a cottage owned by Troop Scouter, Bob Taylor. These three "'average"' citizens were just part of the crowd at Friday night's Hallowe'en party, held at High Poyntz Mall in Penetanguishene. The event, which was organized by Joe Brunelle and friends, from Penetanguishene has become an annual event in town and judging by the number of monsters present Friday night, there's no question as to the popularity of the party. These three unidentified young men, (including the one at right), were more than pleased with the fun and activity taking place at the Hallowe'en special event. This is what the senior students of Elmvale District High School are finding out. On Oct. 16a busload of students travelled to Penetang for an op- portunity to find out about Ontario univer- sities and what they have to offer. The cost involved and _ housing facilities were also discussed. Midland Secondary School along' with Penetang also had the benefit of hearing the university represent- atives. Every student went to three sessions. Along with the university represent- atives there were speeches made con- cerning financial help which can be obtained from the government. This week another university session was held Friday morning manv students aitended the lecture concerning Queens University. The weeks to follow will give the students other op- portunities to visit the colleges and univer- sities of their choice in the province of Ontario. Other educational advancements may be gained through correspondence cour- ses. Some students attended a meeting that Mr. Shaw held. on October 2ist. He ex- plained that only students willing to give their time and effort are allowed to take part in these courses. In the past only 8 per cent of the students that signed up for the correspon- dence actually com- pleted it. This caused too much unnecessary paper work. ay Friday, Oct. 24, EDHS was all lit up and full of life. as the annual commencement was held. The dinner for the graduates was held in the school cafeteria, catered by a number of helpful volunteers. Immediately follo- wing this, the gym became full of students who deser'ved honourable mention. Various awards were given out, along with the diplomas received by the graduates. Afterwards a social gathering was held for the graduates, parents and teachers. Commencement is a time to reunite old school friends and it is a time to talk about all the years of fun they have shared together. It is an event that will alwavs be remembered because in many cases, it is the last time the group will be together. So to all those graduates out there, good luck in the future from EDHS. IAN C.
