Dock Lunch defeated Hindson Marine 6-1 to put themselves into a tie position, with Ken Edgar recording a hat trick for Dock Lunch. Other scorers were Paul Loughran, Tom Gignac and Bill Mun- dav. Mike Orser was the sole scorer for Hindson Marine. A tie for last place was broken between Chalet Sports and B & J Gas Bar when Chalet Sports won 4-2 over B & Master-junior tourney good experience Four teams of three bowlers, including a teaching master from Midland's Youth Bowling Council and a male and female bowler from the junior division of that group, entered a ament on Sunday in Barrie's Kempview Bowling Alley. Even though there were no winners from Midland, all learned a great deal from _ the Teams were: Maurice Lapensee, teaching master with Michael McBrien and Adele Mover; Pauline Brabant, teaching master with Gerald Duval: Debbie Chad- wick. teaching master with John Sykes and Kim Hawke; and Dennis Brabant, teaching master with Steven Parent and Lynn Shaw. J Gas Bar in a game where Mark Duquette scored a pair for Chalet Sports. Ken Edgar is top scorer in the league after five games with five goals and nine assists for 14 points. He is followed closely by Bill McIntosh with 11 points and Paul * Loughran with 10 points. All three are on Dock Lunch as are the next three in the top ten scorers race as well as one more person in Figures don 'tlie... Although figures don't lie, they also don't tell the whole story. Midland Athletics haven't scored the least goals in Ontario Hockey Association Intermediate A league play but they still sit in the basement with eight losses in eight games as of Nov. 3. The only team that has scored fewer goals than Midland are the Port Elgin Sunoco's with 25 as compared to the Athletics' 38. Port Elgin has won one game in the six they've played and are in second last position. Midland Athletics have allowed the most. goals against though with 69. Despite these figures and their standings, Midland Athletics play an interesting form of hockey and can honestly say their placing is largely due to the age of the club, only having been formed this year. Given more time, Midland Athletics could move Master-Junior tourn- competition. Befort and Christine St. T's puts on good show St. Theresa's High School in Midland senior boys volleyball team played an exhausting series of games at Saunders Secondary School's invitational volleyball tournament in London Saturday. In round robin competition, they met Saunders first, defeating team 15-11 and 15-16. They then played Donovon Secondary School from Oshawa and won both games 15-12 and 15-1. Charlebois Secondary School from Ottawa was no match for St. Theresa's either as they were downed 15-10 and 15-6 by the Midland squad. Malvern Secondary School in Scarborough proved a little tougher competition for St. Theresa's as they defeated St. Theresa's in the first game 15-13. St. Theresa's came back though with a 16-14 win in the second game. Ingersoll Secondary School also gave St. Theresa's some trouble as they made St. Theresa's work for their two wins, 15-11 and 16-14. At the end of round-robin play, St. Theresa's was tied with Malvern for first place in their pool. They were awarded second place because of Malvern's better point average. St. Theresa's went on to play the winner in the other pool, David and Mary Thompson Secondary School from Scarborough in semi-finals while Malvern played the third place team in their pool. St. Theresa's were too tired by the time they met David and Mary Thompson Secondary School and it showed. After playing six games straight in the afternoon, they still managed a good showing but lost both games by scores of 15-12 and 15-3. Malvern went on to play David and Mary Thompson in the finals which they lost to a superior team. Chris Weissflog of St. Theresa's played well throughout the matches and kept their attack balanced with his play. Despite playing with schools of 2,000 students or more, the small school of St. Theresa's in Midland has shown that they can keep up with the much larger schools on the volleyball court. Heart attack fells hunter A heart attack killed a Victoria Harbour man while he was hunting deer early Monday with 10 companions between Con. 6 and Con. 7 of Tay Township, Midland OPP reports. _ Lloyd Alphonse, 52, of Richard Street, Victoria 'Harbour, died some time between 7:20 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. A nearby companion saw him kneel while they were pursuing a deer and assumed that he was preparing to shoot. When the hunters assembled at the other end of the bush, they discovered Alphonse was missing, and, searching for him, found him where he had last been seen.
