a ee ae an Disa bean is PONE -- oe en SC lO SiS Keegos claim firsts in swim meet Swimming clubs from Midland, Muskoka, Orillia and Owen Sound took 'part in a developmental swim meet in Midland YMCA Sunday. The Midland club is called the Keegos club and operates out of Midland's YMCA. Several firsts were recorded by members of Midland's team with improvements being realized by many of Midland swimmers on personal bests. For 13 and 14 girls, Molly Wadge swam for a first in 200 metre individual medley with a time of three minutes and 1.7 seconds. She also received a third in 100 metre backstroke and a sixth in 400 metre free style competition. Also in 13 and 14 girls competition, the team of Michelle Magnan, Lynn Hein , Molly Wadge and Cathy Hutton won a first place finish in 200 metre relay racing. Their time was two minutes, 34.7 seconds. Thev swam for a third in 200 metre free style relay as well. Michelle Magnan got a fourth in 100 metre back stroke and Lynn Heins was awarded two fourths, one in 200 metre individual medley and the other in 400 metre free style. Heins' wins included a fifth in 50 metre free style swimming. Cathy Hutton got a second in 100 metre back stroke swimming, a third in 50 metre free style a third in 200 metre individual medley and a fourth in 100 metre free style. In 10 and under boys swimming, David Young swam for three firsts in 200 metre individual medley, 50 metre free style and 100 metre back stroke. She also won a fourth in 400 metre free style. J. J. Gorman won two firsts in 10 and under boys competition, one in 200 metre breast stroke and the other in 400 metre free style. Two seconds in 100 metre back stroke and 50 metre free style were also claimed by Gorman. ; _ These two boys joined up with Joel Heins and Joel Magnan to win two firsts in 200 metre iree style relay and 200 metre medley relay. Heins. won a second in 200 metre breast stroke, a third in 400 metre free style, and fourth in 50 metre free style and a fourth in 200 metre individual medley. Magnan entered 200 metre individual medley and scored a third along with a second in 100 metre free style, a fourth in 400 metre free style, a fourth in 200 metre breast stroke and a fifth in 50 metre free style. After regulation play, the two teams were tied so five minutes of sudden death play began. No change in positions resulted, so the groups were forced into a shoot- out. This meant five plavers were selected from each team to shoot on net for points.
